We are currently seeking an Associate Field Test Engineer in multiple locations.

Primary Function

Battelle’s Critical Infrastructure Business Line group is seeking an Associate Field Test Engineer to support the research, development, test and evaluation of security systems and technology for both the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). This is a full time position and the selected candidate may work remotely.

Major Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include providing fielded support to the test and evaluation of both standalone and integrated Explosive Detection System (EDS) devices and associated Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) interfaces. Responsible for supporting test execution at test sites in a variety of capacities including data collection, reconciliation, and analysis. Additional responsibilities can include handling and insertion of test articles, observation of system/component performance, and application of various technical tools and equipment to conduct testing. Candidate will also be responsible for receiving and maintaining badges for access to restricted areas at multiple airports. Technical areas applicable to this role include non-intrusive inspection and associated scientific disciplines, physical security applications, command & control integration, human factors, operations research, statistics, electrical/mechanical engineering, and systems engineering. Familiarity with EDS/BHS systems and integration is desired.

Candidate will provide support to field test activities in a support role under the direction of the test lead. Continuous attention to detail must be applied to all testing activities to ensure that accurate test results are recorded and submitted to the test lead. Candidate must be willing to learn how to apply policies and procedures and become proficient in acceptance testing practices.

Work will be performed remotely, with nearly 100% travel. Candidates should have strong oral and written communication skills. Additionally, candidates should also have adequate computer skills including the use of applicable Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Position Requirements

THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:

The candidate must have a BS in engineering, operations research, mathematics, or physical science from an accredited college or university or a minimum of 2-6 years of experience with testing and evaluation of equipment.
Sole US Citizenship with a DOD Secret Security Clearance and willing to obtain TSA Security Suitability.

THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:

Experience with Checked Baggage Technologies, specifically Explosive Detection Systems (EDS), as well as Baggage Handling Systems (BHS).
Experience working within an airport environment.
Experience with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) code.
Already possess TSA Security Suitability.
