The Director of Global Application Development, Corporate Functions owns the application implementation roadmap and IS project portfolio for the respective areas of responsibility. This position is responsible for the overall project and program delivery function by providing astute technical and personnel management and leadership to the delivery of IS projects in close collaboration with all relevant IS functions and stakeholders.
Candidates are expected to demonstrate technical breadth and program leadership skills to assist in defining solutions, leading implementing and managing rollout of multiple SaaS, ERP and on-prem applications.
Corporate Function :

The role consists of the following for all global application development activities for Corporate Functions:
Prioritize demand in alignment with business partners and demand management.
Manage project budgets and align budgeting with portfolio/program/project prioritization process.
Approve portfolio solution designs with due consideration to scope, cost, timing and milestone commitments.
Drive tactical and strategic initiatives to lead systems support and enhance future products and services provided by IS
Lead the design of specific solutions and ensure alignment with solution architecture, enterprise architecture and domain guidance.
Follow EA guidance to deliver the right technology and be responsible for end to end technology/data flow within a platform.
Create platform strategies that align with business strategy and enterprise architecture. Deliver roadmaps and capabilities on time, within budget.
Assume full responsibility for setting the technology strategy and roadmap, project and program execution, developing and managing budgets and present timely status reports to senior leadership.
Manage onshore/offshore service providers for on solution delivery. Drive KPI/SLAs across vendors.
Evaluate, design and optimize business processes to ensure competitiveness, operational efficiency and optimal use of technology.
Establish and maintain environment strategies, release/technical deployment processes and version control.
Drive lean Software Development Life Cycle.
Define standard and reference architecture, ensuring alignment with EA guidelines and principles.
Ensure smooth transition of projects from Build to the Run organization.
Employ modern project delivery methodologies including Agile and DevOps, automation and tools that drive results.
The Director of Global Application Development, Corporate Functions will be responsible for leading a diverse, high profile portfolio of programs and projects within the Information Services organization. He/She will lead a cross-functional team that will work across the organization to develop effective, transparent, cohesive and high-quality IT solutions and processes that ensure alignment of technology capabilities with Stryker IS & business strategy.
Assume ownership of relationship management between corporate business functional teams and IS. Understand corporate strategies and how IS can enable successful business outcomes.
Align with Stryker IS Governance, Shared Services and PMO leaders to execute a collaborative program management approach that provides structure and rapid delivery cycle to build high-quality end products.
Develop the strategy and prioritization of enhancement requests for Corporate Function platforms
Ensure solutions are built with robust architecture foundations and provide avenues for improvements and enhancements to existing solutions.
Manage the successful execution of IS project portfolio within budget.
Prepare and present timely and accurate reports to leadership and staff.
Align IS direction with the corporate function team’s short and long-term business goals and objectives.
Diagnose and resolve ambiguous problems.
Lead process, tools and service improvement programs.
Research and apply industry best practices and lessons learned to future programs/projects.
Manage globally dispersed and matrixed project team responsible for Corporate Functions.
Provide technical support and leadership to direct reports and extended team.
Promote and ensure best practices in solution design to maximize usability and maintainability while minimizing complexity.
Provide solution architecture assessments of existing solutions or proposed solution designs.
Work with internal and external teams and suppliers to ensure the successful delivery of applications.
Monitor and communicate ROI and other KPI’s and performance metrics.
Develop and manage the overall prioritization process amongst competing initiatives.
Execute program management, continuous improvement, policies, standards and processes.
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT/Computer Science/Engineering or the equivalent required.
Master’s degree preferred
Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in End to End Program Delivery, IT application implementation, portfolio management, systems development methodology
