Leidos, a Fortune 500 global IT, technology, and engineering company, has an opening for a Government Affairs Associate to provide research and other strategic support to the Government Affairs Team.
This job is an integral part of the Leidos Government Affairs function. The Government Affairs Associate spends 80-90% of their time supporting the Senior Vice President and Government Affairs Team in their lobbying and congressional affairs efforts. Approximately 10-20% of time is spent providing administrative support; however, after demonstrated success executing core duties, responsibilities could expand to legislative issues.
Responsibilities

Conduct company, policy, funding, and other research, using internal and external resources to support daily government affairs operations and workflows.

Track the President’s Budget Request, appropriations bills, and certain authorization bills while also providing in-depth political and policy analysis.

Attend and report on internal and external events, such as strategy meetings and congressional hearings.

Prepare presentations and briefings, and provide critical data to the Team, to support engagements with Members of Congress and staff, the Leidos Board of Directors, and the Leidos Executive Leadership Team.

Prepare/maintain spreadsheets, tables/charts/graphs, talking points, briefings, memos, and customer and market analyses.

Maintain Government Affairs electronic files and databases.

Handle minor reception duties, various facilities-related tasks, including assisting with office technology prepare weekly reports, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, government, communications, or related field is preferred.

2+ years of relevant experience, preferably on Capitol Hill, or in public policy, national security, or government affairs.

Strong oral and written communication skills; advanced skills in all Microsoft Office suite applications, especially PowerPoint to develop effective and creative presentations.

Knowledge of the U.S. legislative and executive branches of government, specifically the federal budget process

Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a cohesive team in a fast-paced environment.
Pay Range $54,600.00 - $84,000.00 - $113,400.00
