As part of the manufacturing engineering team, having responsibility for meeting business performance commitments to key stakeholders.

Responsibility for improving and defining new processes for product release to manufacture.

Managing cost improvement objectives and technical support of the operational function.

Support the training of new and existing processes, raising training and process corrective actions with manufacturing when required.


  • Enhance and improve manufacturing processes through application of Lean practices.
  • Improve facility organization, work station setups, SMED, process time reduction.
  • Assist in automation project definition and implementation.
  • Provide manufacturing engineering support with NPI projects.
  • Application of statistical process controls to improve Production yields.
  • Resolve issues with manufacturing when product quality risks are identified.
  • Support transfer of Beta level product to release to manufacture, optimizing cost through process, material and yield in collaboration with Development Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Conduct health and safety reviews of new processes and procedures to eliminate hazards and improve ergonomics.
  • Train production team members in new or updated processes and procedures.
  • Drive culture of Manufacturing Engineering excellence.
  • Support product configuration and engineering change processes.


  • Training and certification in Lean Manufacturing practices & Continual Improvement strategy.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practices so issues can be highlighted and managed by the appropriate personnel.

BS in Engineering (Optics/Electronics/Mechanical/Software) or equivalent preferred.

Certification in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma - MUST HAVE**


3+ years’ experience in a manufacturing engineering role

Experience in Photonics and it applications, specifically fibre optics preferred

Successful history of Lean and Six Sigma Principles application in volume manufacturing preferred
