District Director - Adult Education Operations

City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), the largest community college system in Illinois, is made up of seven colleges and five satellite sites, providing more than 70,000 students each year access to a quality, affordable education.
The Adult Education (AE) Department provides District-wide management oversight and policy direction over the Adult Education programs, services and initiatives offered at the colleges, working to achieve the performance goal of increasing the number and share of ABE/ASE/ESL students who advance to and succeed in college level courses.
Reporting to an assigned administrator, the District Director of Adult Education Operations provides strategic leadership, management, and accountability for the processes and policies of Adult Education. This position plays an instrumental role partnering with Deans, Managers, Adult Education staff and educators for the implementation of operations in alignment with ICCB guidelines, CCC Academic & Student Policy manual, and CCC collective bargaining agreements. Performs related duties as required.
Designs and continuously improves processes at the colleges to ensure operations are in alignment with ICCB policies, particularly related to attendance, enrollment, and testing
Provides leadership and works collaboratively with college Deans and college staff in implementing processes to ensure student testing operations follow ICCB guidelines and meet post-testing rate targets.
Oversees work of grants staff to ensure compliance with grant awards and requirements. Monitors budgetary expenditures including both restricted and unrestricted funds, salary, materials, and contractual services.
Works collaboratively with Deans and Community Affairs in establishing selection processes and standards for the evaluation of existing and potential new sites and the renewal of contractual agreements with community partners.
Manages the updating and maintenance of content on all Adult Education webpages on CCC’s website in collaboration with Marketing & Communications
Provides guidance and works with college administrators in the interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements representing staff in Adult Education
Responds to complaints and investigates employee/labor relations issues impacting Adult Education processes. Communicates with union representatives to resolve issues.
Serve as a representative at hearings, grievances, and meetings regarding labor relations matters as related to Adult Education policies or procedures.
Associate Vice Chancellor, Adult Education or Assigned Administrator
Coordinator - Grants Budget
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Education, Public Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required
Six years of work experience in higher education as an administrator or project manager, or in an educator/faculty role is highly desirable; a combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration based on the applicant’s credentials provided the minimum degree requirement is met
Experience in administering Adult Education programs with demonstrated success in meeting outcomes for adult learners is highly desirable
Experience working in a collective bargaining union environment preferred
Knowledge of best practices in transitioning adults to post-secondary education
Knowledge of management principles relating to strategic planning and resource allocation
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment
Ability to work effectively with colleagues across administrative and academic units
Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in handling sensitive situations.
Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Chicago residency is required for all full-time employees within 6 months of hire.
