Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a National Sales Director to join the Wattstopper Team Remote Location with the ideal candidate living on the east cost.
The National Sales Director will drive revenue growth and market share capture by capitalizing on changes in energy codes to drive an increase in BCS system sales within target geographies. This position will require extensive sales experience, including deep understanding of the commercial lighting controls sales channel and the ability to influence the behavior of agents and specifiers.
The position will emphasize the ability to effectively communicate the opportunities created by code changes and impart the tools and knowledge necessary for agents to optimize their sales mix and win incremental projects. The National Sales Director will work closely in a leadership capacity with the direct Legrand/WattStopper Sales team to identify, analyze and manage target account purchasing trends and opportunities, identify and manage problems and issues, and identify, plan for, and execute against growth opportunities that exist within the targeted markets. The Director will need to understand forecasting and budgeting within an established territory and demonstrate a constant drive to succeed, delivering against measurable KPI’s and financial targets.
What Will You Do?
Provides strategic leadership for the organization to meet established goal of becoming the #1 specified solution in specific geographic markets. Creates repeatable Selling Action Plan for each code change market to implement pre-adoption, pre-enforcement and post-enforcement
Travels frequently to local markets where code changes are happening. Develops and trains field sales and agents on a day-to-day basis, establishes goals and providing performance feedback per Legrand performance management process to scale code sales discipline across North America.
Works closely with Manager, Code Marketing in the development and role out of code marketing materials
Ensures field communications are coordinated, support sales plan objectives and meet organizational requirements.
Works with VP, Standards & Industry Affairs to understand coming changes to energy codes and with Product Marketing to ensure product roadmap aligns with code changes.
Assists with the national rollout of new product lines which enable commercial buildings to meet energy codes
Gathers, analyzes, and communicates market and business trends, especially pertaining to evolving energy codes and the sales opportunities they create.
Supports innovation and creative change. Collaborate with entire sales force within the Legrand family to create enthusiasm and inspire teamwork and camaraderie within BCS and the broader Legrand organization.
Establish relationships with A&E Firms and provides: design assistance where and when necessary; implements Legrand Master Spec; conducts Continuing Education Seminars
Maximize the sales tools, including daily usage of CRM Tool. Fully understand and utilize training and materials provided to support sales activities. Optimize time and territory management.
Performs other similar and related duties as required.
Bachelor’s Degree required
10 years of progressive sales management experience utilizing independent manufacturers’ representatives and direct representatives.
10 years experience in commercial electrical construction working with BMS & BAS system design & BACnet communications as well as understanding both ASHRAE standards and National Electrical Codes
Understanding of Joint Association Applications and Services, Data Networks, Cyber Security, AutoCAD, Revit / Blue Beam
Experience preferably in Lighting Controls, Datacom, and Audio Visual & Commercial Integration Markets.
Certified in IES, IALD, and BACnet is preferred.
ASHE Certified-Member IES & IALD Certified preferred.
CLCP or Manager Certified preferred.

Strong knowledge of Legrand Lighting Controls, Shades, and Tech Enabled Services product lines and competitor's products and their applications, as well as industry standards, and installation practices. The ability to specify a basic code compliant lighting control systems and Commercial Office integration applications
Strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to utilize influence to drive organizational behavior without having direct managerial authority
Excellent skills in project management, demonstrated ability to make timely and effective decision, handle multiple priorities and effectively delegate responsibilities to ensure high quality service is delivered on time and within budget.
Requires strong organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities.
Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. Must be an effective listener, able to maintain focus extract necessary information and validate understanding of the information. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from top management, clients and public groups, as required.
Must have solid business acumen and understanding of the different functional areas within a business. MBA preferred.
