Cenveo, a world leader in the management and distribution of print and related offerings is seeking an experienced Mac Operator to work in its Richmond, VA manufacturing facility.

The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or equivalent, with 5+ years' experience in Prepress or related area, and demonstrated problem-solving skills pertaining to Prepress workflows and printing processes. This is a 1st shift position.

Job Summary

Exercising independent judgment, leads, gives directions to and monitors daily production by desktop operators in the prepress hub. Ensures incoming work is prioritized, assigned and delivered on time. Resolves technical and mechanical problems by offering advice and guidance to desktop operators. Fields basic technical questions from Clients, Customer Service and desktop operators. Through established standard operating procedures, ensures proper machine set-up, operation, maintenance and housekeeping by desktop operators. Performs all duties and functions of desktop operator and assumes responsibility for process improvement. Performs other duties as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)
These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Ability to read and interprets docket specifications on work orders.
  • Loads, RIPs, Traps and QC's customer files proficiently.
  • Troubleshoots problem files, determines cause and solution, documents detail of problem and gives feedback to Account Manager /Customer.
  • Learns new software and understands how to use it to meet production needs.
  • Produces content & contract proofs for customer approval.
  • Adheres to all SOPs specific to the Prepress Department.
  • Promotes and maintains a safe work environment.
  • Superior math skills
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and assign work to desktop operators to meet daily production schedules.

Other (Non-Essential) Functions
Includes functions which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be reassigned to other employees as part of a "Reasonable Accommodation" under the ADA.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years' experience in prepress or related area.
  • 3+ years' experience using Adobe Software products
  • Experience working on Apple/Windows computers, Kodak Prinergy, EFI Color RIPS, Inkjet proofers.
  • Previous experience leading/motivating crew of 3-10
  • Good math skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills as they pertain to pre-press workflows and printing processes.

Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions

  • Environment is typically general office, although the incumbent may spend some periods of time in the manufacturing environments with exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels and variations in temperature.
  • Intensive computer work and extended use of the computer keyboard and mouse.
  • The incumbent is expected to know and follow all safety rules for the environment.
  • Office equipment including computer, printer, calculator, photocopier and fax machine.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
