As a Software Systems Engineer, you will translate customer experiences and product features into capabilities on our connected platforms. You have an end-to-end perspective that enables our software development teams to consider all aspects of the software stack and range of computational platforms. You will work with partners in product marketing, user experience and hardware to convert vision into reality.

Responsibilities Include:
Champion systems thinking within the larger product development organization
Define and develop connected software architectures, which may include embedded, mobile, and cloud components
Work with product teams to clarify use cases, user experiences, and technical product requirements
Generate technical approaches and architectures for new features that employ existing capabilities within multiple platforms.
Lead explorations into new technologies and technical approaches
Ability to consider big-picture goals in capturing, refining, and challenging requirements and constraints.
Advocate design and documentation best practices; including generating context, component, functional, sequence diagrams, and the like
Stay up to date on relevant technologies, understand trends and opportunities to ensure we are using the best techniques and tools

Skills and Qualifications:
System thinker with excellent understanding of software system architectures, operating system fundamentals, as well as SDK and API design principles.
Must have superb interpersonal communication skills, with ability to communicate clearly and concisely with both technical and non-technical staff
A knack for working collaboratively, while influencing technical subject matter experts, peers, and stakeholders
Natural curiosity and ability to learn quickly when necessary
Experience with common embedded compiled languages (C/C++), common interpreted languages (Javascript, Python, etc) and others as a plus (Go, Swift, Ruby, Java, etc)
Knowledge of a few of the following areas a plus: low-power embedded devices, Bluetooth, RESTful APIs, mobile app development, PKI, databases, virtualization/containers, AWS, voice technologies

Ideal experience:
12+ years in designing and building complex software driven systems; such as networked equipment, consumer products, DoD electronic warfare and the like
Experience working in organizations using agile methods, involving software applications, embedded systems and/or mobile applications interacting with cloud services.
Prior experience as a Software Architect, Software Technical Lead (Embedded, Mobile Applications or, Cloud uServices)
BS in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent. MS preferred.
