Full-time Inpatient Psychiatry Opening – Teaching Position at Danbury Hospital in Danbury, Connecticut (60 miles from New York City)

Danbury Hospital, located in Danbury, CT, (Fairfield County), about 60 miles northeast of New York City, and near the border of Westchester and Putnam Counties in New York State, is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist for coverage in our inpatient unit. We have a 22 bed unit and advanced practitioner coverage in addition to supervision by senior psychiatrists. Weekend coverage is paid at an additional per diem rate. This is a teaching position for third year medical students through the University of Vermont. Future plans include a residency training program.

The ideal candidate will be a board certified/eligible Psychiatrist looking to join a long established, employed group. Required: Psychiatry residency training and board certification or board eligibility in psychiatry. Prior work experience is preferred but not required. Candidate must hold or secure a CT medical license and Federal DEA and Controlled Substance registration in Connecticut. This position will provide a full range of adult psychiatric inpatient and emergency services including patient evaluations, medication management and ongoing care for patients with a full range of psychiatric diagnoses including dual diagnoses and chronic mental illnesses. Oversee Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Licensed Clinical Social Workers. Assist with teaching 3rd year medical students. Hours: 40 Control Hours.
