This position has a full salary range of $102,250 - $159,833.33 per year with eligibility for an annual bonus. Starting salary is based on various factors including, but not limited to, geographic location and experience. The target hiring range for this role is $102,250 - $125,000.
This is a fully remote role, candidates may be based anywhere in the U.S. Preference for candidates' location on the east coast.
Summary:
Dirty Hands Brokerage provides brands with customized sales and distribution management aimed to accelerate strategic growth within the natural and organic retail space. The Associate Director of Brand Strategy is responsible for driving the growth of brokerage and merchandising clients by creating customized go-to-market strategies that align with the client’s objective, the client’s life cycle, and drive volume and velocity. This role will partner with clients and internal teams to develop and execute annual sales plans, distribution strategies, and growth plans as well as set realistic and effective priorities. In addition, The Associate Director of Brand Strategy will proactively monitor and manage client development, progress towards objectives and strategies, trade spend, and promotional planning. Successful candidates will have prior experience working for a national broker, a deep working knowledge of distributors such as UNFI and KeHe, be highly organized, and be a strong relationship builder.
This role will be responsible for a portfolio of brands in the growth lifecycle phase. Brands in this phase are generally focused on expanding their market share, increasing sales, and enhancing brand recognition.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning
-
Collaborate with brokerage and merchandising clients to develop and implement customized go-to-market strategies that align with the client’s objectives, the client’s life cycle, and drive volume and velocity.

Partner with clients and the brokerage sales team to create and execute annual sales plans including promotional and trade spend strategies.

Work with clients, field merchandising leadership teams, and/or brokerage sales teams to identify and set realistic and effective priorities that align with client objectives and the go-to-market strategy.
Distribution Strategy
-
Develop distribution strategies for brokerage clients, including gaining needed commitments, setting up distribution, growing ACV, and executing promotions and related distributor events.

Own and develop strong distributor relationships, including regional distributor SRMs and Category Managers for client introduction, management, and promotional planning.

Partner with the centralized operations team and brokerage sales team to evaluate distributor reporting to ensure the distribution strategy is effective and to track the overall health of DCs.
Client Relationships

Own, develop, and elevate client relationships through proactive and regular communication via email, Zoom calls, occasional in-person meetings, and field visits.

Serve as a trusted advisor and the single point of contact for all clients in your portfolio.

Assess and present wins and opportunities with a focus on identifying growth potential and increasing brand retention and expansion.

Develop and maintain a deep professional network in the natural CPG and grocery retail industries.
Data Analysis & Reporting

Interpret and deliver data-based reports provided by the centralized operations team, GoSpotCheck visual data, and qualitative reporting showing progress towards the annual sales plan and client objectives.

Leverage data and successes to identify beneficial expansion opportunities for clients within Dirty Hands, including brokerage services, merchandising services, and potential project work.

Track and report on progress towards client objectives and the annual sales plan.

Assist in the development of category review materials based on data including internal data analysis and SPINS data.
Requirements:

5+ years of sales experience working for a national broker with experience and existing relationships in the conventional and natural channels. Experience working with brands in the growth life cycle phase is highly preferred.

Prior experience in the natural CPG industry at a brand, merchandiser, or distributor is preferred.

Deep understanding of UNFI, KeHE and other distributors.

Prior experience leading projects with the ability to manage projects for multiple clients at the same time.

A proven track record of strong customer service and relationship building skills.

Exceptional interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

Must be willing to travel up to four weeks of the year.

Proficient computer and technology skills including Google Workspaces, Microsoft Office, and project management tools such as Airtable. Preference for experience in Excel including building charts, utilizing formula functions, and pivot tables.

Able to work in a seated position for extended periods of time.
