California State University, East Bay (Cal State East Bay) is hiring a pre-licensed MFT, MSW, or LPCC Associate Counselor to work in Student Health and Counseling Services. Working under the supervision of the Director of Counseling and their clinical supervisor, these counselors provide intake assessment, crisis intervention, and short-term individual, couples and group counseling. Cal State East Bay has a diverse, multicultural student population, who present a wide range of psychosocial, developmental, and relational concerns. The counselors work collaboratively with other clinicians, psychiatrists, and primary care physicians in a multidisciplinary approach to help students achieve and maintain optimal mental and physical health.

This position is temporary, part-time starting August 2019 through May 2020, with the possibility of reappointment for a maximum of 2 years. The work schedule is three days a week, 8:30am - 5:30pm; Thursdays are required. Schedule includes one hour of individual supervision and two hours of group supervision weekly, as well as monthly clinical trainings.

Completed an accredited master's level program in counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work.
Hold a current registration number from the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, or will have proof of application for registration before August 2019.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of professional counseling theory and practice, and adherence to approved professional, legal and ethical standards of the counseling profession.

Preferred Skills & Knowledge
Experience in, or a strong desire to learn about, crisis intervention, short-term therapy, couples therapy, group therapy, and outreach and consultation.
Experience or a strong desire to learn as a clinical generalist. Common issue areas include interpersonal relationships, depression, anxiety, trauma, anger management, domestic violence, and addiction.
Proficient in electronic medical records.
Strong demonstrated experience in diversity.
Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mental health and medical providers in an integrated health center.
Experience in a college or university setting.
Proficient in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese.
Proficient in interpersonal, verbal, and written communication.
Passion for helping students to create healthy, vibrant lives.
