The SHC Outpatient Surgery Center is a free-standing facility in Redwood City, CA. with 6 ORs and 2 Procedural Suites. The focus is primarily on Orthopedics: sports medicine, hand and podiatry surgery. Pain Management and Physiatry services are also provided. Most patients are discharged home after surgery. Extended recovery is available Mon, Tues and Thurs nights for select patients. The OSC cares for adults and pediatric patients who are at least 12 years old/ weigh at least 80 lbs. The OSC has contingencies for unplanned but necessary patient transfer and admission to Stanford Hospital at the Palo Alto campus.
The Pre-op/ PACU RN cares for the Perioperative patient by applying the Nursing Process before and after surgery, consistent with the CA Nurse Practice Act, ASPAN Standards, and Stanford Health Care policies and procedures. The Pre-op/ PACU RN is responsible for maintaining their professional licensure, mandatory certifications and all clinical competencies. The Pre-op/ PACU RN collaborates with the entire perioperative team, and supervises and delegates duties to Hospital Technicians (unlicensed assistive personnel) in the pursuit of safe, quality patient care to promote desired surgical outcomes.

graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN required.
minimum 2 year's current experience in an acute care Pre-op/ PACU environment; minimum 2 year's current experience in a Surgery Center considered; ICU background a bonus; RN must be competent in pre-op admission, recovery and discharge processes for local, procedural sedation, regional and general anesthesia patients.
