Supervise and maintain effective Quality Assurance support to assure that the products produced are safe, wholesome, and meet quality standards and company requirements. Oversee the overall performance of the QA team, managing deviations and incoming inspections, change controls, customer complaints, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company standards.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee the efficient implementation of quality standards, programs and processes to improve operational efficiencies and reduce/eliminate production waste and hold product

Monitor product food safety and quality throughout the manufacturing process
Interact positively and professionally with employees and leaders to help resolve investigations and customer complaints

Utilize investigative techniques to determine root cause of deviations and determine the proper corrective and preventive actions
Review and approve deviation reports, change controls, product complaints, specifications, and SOPs

Train employees in SOPs, GMPs, quality procedures, and ensure training effectiveness in application of job skills

Develop, motivate, and lead employees towards achieving organizational goals. Conduct periodic meetings and provide timely performance feedback

Perform sanitation verification and allergen testing on equipment and other areas
Lead and support process improvement teams within the company
Draft quality assurance policies, procedures, and forms. Interpret and implement quality assurance standards

Perform plant/area inspections to assure compliance with GMP's, SOP's and other quality and food safety systems

Assist with management of the HACCP program, product hold logs, QA documentation, compiling data, metrics, and preparing charts and reports

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Accurate, efficient, and timely execution of tasks
Ability to use sound judgment and discretion while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
Strong interpersonal, teamwork and relationship management skills; works effectively with all personalities
Ability to be flexible and resourceful in response to changing priorities and needs
Familiar with various MS applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Excellent oral/written communication and presentation skills to communicate effectively with employees and leadership teams
Detail oriented and organized
Effective time management and prioritization skills
Strong knowledge of GMPs, Food Safety Program, HACCP, USDA and SSOPs, as well as other relevant regulatory requirements

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

Education & Experience:
Bachelor degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Biology or related field preferred

Minimum 1-3 years of prior Quality Assurance experience, 3-5 preferred
