Reports to: Controller

Location: Morgantown, WV

Status: Full-time, exempt

Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. M-F, subject to change in order to meet staffing requirements and/or workload requirements

Job Description:

The Accountant is an important member of the Laurel Aggregates team who provides support to the Controller through various tasks. This position will serve as an integral part of our General Accounting staff and will assist in accounting procedures abiding by GAAP regulations, in addition to any special projects, as needed.

Job Duties:

General Accounting Processes:

  • Record various journal entries
  • Monitor the general ledger for accuracy of entries
  • Reconcile several Balance Sheet accounts
  • Assist in a timely month-end close procedure
  • Review company credit card activity and expense reports
  • Monthly/quarterly tax and MSHA reporting
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Monitor AR & AP Aging trends
  • Review AR accounts for collectability
  • Aggregate and tire inventory tracking
  • Fixed asset management and depreciation schedule
  • Review sales billing
  • Review & monitor taxable purchases and sales
  • Review & support administration of brokered sales
  • Assist in the processing of payroll, as needed
  • Assist in various audits

Additional duties may include but are not limited to: maintaining company vehicle listing, ensuring vehicles have up-to-date registrations, and assisting in daily procedure reviews to maximize efficiencies, along with other various duties.
