Job Description: The City of Portage is seeking highly responsible, confidential individuals for the position of Police Records Clerk II. This position will receive and direct routine non-emergency phone calls to appropriate staff and transfer emergency calls to the appropriate public safety answering point. Additionally they will review and process Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests that are received, including, but not limited to, police and fire documents, reports, audio and video recordings and photographs. This role will provide additional administrative support for the police and fire departments as needed. Successful candidates will be proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel, able to type 50+ WPM and possess excellent grammar, spelling, and word usage skills. Law enforcement terminology helpful but not required. The selected candidates must possess a HS Diploma or equivalent, have 2 years of experience in a responsible clerical position and be able to pass a background investigation.
Hourly rate is $13.85/hour with excellent benefits. 36-44 hours week, will rotate. We have two different 12 hour shifts available, having a schedule of 2 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off, and one 8 hour shift every two weeks. Every other weekend is a 3 day weekend.
