Control Systems Integration and manufacturing firm located in Royal Oak, Michigan is seeking an experienced Instrument Technician to support growing business in the Metro Detroit Area. Prefer previous technical experience and knowledge of process control instrumentation, PLC-based control systems and operator interfaces including HMI and SCADA systems. Company specializes in turn-key custom control systems for diversified customer base in the areas of Automotive R&D, Utilities and Alternative Energy. Key Customers include Ford, GM, Stellantis.
Job Description:
1) Provide startup and commissioning of PLC-based control systems, HMI's and field devices and instrumentation.
2) Basic knowledge and experience with AC and DC circuits, relay logic, discrete inputs/outputs, analog devices.
3) Traces out and tests electronic circuitry and components to locate defective parts in analog and digital, protection, or radiation monitoring systems, using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
4) Removes defective instruments from system, disassembles, and cleans instruments, and replaces defective parts, using hand tools.
5) Re-assembles instruments and replaces instruments in system, using hand tools.
6) Lubricates instruments and replaces defective wiring and tubing.
7) Calibrates readings on instruments according to standards and adjusts phasing and aligns stages to ensure accuracy of recording and indicating function.
8) Records calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand.
9) Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems.
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of Instrument Technician experience with technical degree or certified training, professional attitude and excellent written and oral communications skills. Hourly pay plus occasional overtime, excellent benefits. EOE.
