Consulting and Communications Associates work with clients on large projects to communicate about homeland security and emergency management wtih a wide variety of stakeholders. They bring strong writing skills, enjoy developing website content and communications, and working in a fast-paced, learning environment. Associates work on projects in the Washington, DC and northern Virginia area including Fairfax.
Our consultants are always looking for opportunities to learn new skills. Candidates want to perform on fast-paced projects, act as liaisons between information technologists and stakeholders, and contribute to strategic company initiatives. They write a diverse set of communications materials (federal government website content, fact sheets, newsletters, presentations, trainings, etc.) to connect with stakeholders across many communications channels. Strong interested in emergency management and homeland security
Experience in writing communications materials and communicating complex topics in a variety of channels
1-3 years of experience in a professional work environment
Passion for communicating and collaborating with people and teams
Interest in strategizing and writing a diverse set of outreach communications materials (federal government website content, fact sheets, newsletters, presentations, trainings, etc.)
Excellent written and oral communications skills (presentation skills, meeting facilitation, etc.)
Ability to act as a liaison to identify and coordinate with subject matter experts to bridge the gap and translate complex information to messages easily understood by general public, lay audiences and stakeholders
Ability to post web content on internal or external websites, and experience using collaboration tools and/or web content management systems (e.g. Microsoft SharePoint, Drupal, or basic HTML)
Experience using the entire Microsoft Office Suite
US Citizenship Only (no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain a security clearance
Experience reviewing and/or editing communications materials
Interest in technical writing or technical editing, and/or knowledge of the federal government’s Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) or requiremetns development
Experience in a consulting firm
Knowledge of Section 508 compliance
Ability to get a security clearance; U.S. Citizenship only
