Astellas is announcing a Manager, R&D FPS Systems opportunity in Northbrook, IL.
Purpose & Scope
This position is responsible for consolidation and financial reporting of departmental & operational expenses for the Research & Development functions worldwide. This role will summarize financial plans and results using information submitted into the Anaplan consolidation/reporting tool by R&D Finance regional team members from EMEA, Asia Oceania, Japan & Americas.
The role will actively maintain processes and capabilities within the Anaplan tool and serve as an R&D Finance super user of the tool, driving enhancement and other integration projects to ensure data and systems for R&D Finance support the needs of the Finance and Business stakeholders. This will include having an integral role in the roll out of the Global ERP and planning system and carefully managing the impact on R&D Finance deliverables.
This role will operate within a matrix COE for the R&D Finance organization and will work closely to support the activities of the Accounting & Services group and Consolidation and Planning group, including supporting the evolution of the design and efficiency of the R&D Finance COE.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Provide R&D Finance teams with accurate, timely financial information to support decision making, drive business awareness, and highlight deviations to plan.
Consolidate regional financial plans and actual financial performance into global consolidation reports leveraging Anaplan tool.
Co-ordinate the production of recurring and ad hoc financial reporting to meet data needs of R&D Finance teams. Partner with R&D Finance colleagues to understand, standardize & improve regional financial reporting packages utilizing Anaplan.
Assist Finance leadership in production of consolidated slide decks of financial performance for use in executive level review meetings.
Serve as Anaplan super user with intimate knowledge of tool's capabilities and how to best transform those capabilities into actionable business data.
Maintain master data processes within Anaplan and ensure mapping of regional source system financial data is established appropriately through partnership with finance and COE groups
Serve as main point of contact for interactions with external vendors supporting Anaplan tool as well as off-shore service providers in the delivery of R&D Finance activities.
Provide services to R&D Finance colleagues in accordance with Service Level Agreements.
Coordinate data integrity, master data management and data integration efforts.
Work within R&D Finance Projects & Services COE to support migration of optimized activities
Assist with management of out-source and off shore service providers to support CoE activities
Other such duties as may be reasonably required by the business.

This position reports to the Associate Director Finance Systems COE.
The primary partners of this role are R&D Finance, and external vendors supporting Anaplan
This position is part of the team that provides services to all the business units reporting to Astellas' Chief Medical Officer.
There are roles on the team based globally supporting other business units. Collaboration and best practices sharing across the R&D Finance teams will be expected.
This position has responsibilities for working effectively through coordination and processes established between the COE, other R&D Finance and Global Finance teams.
Specific Physical or Environmental Requirements:
Co-located with key department leads for Research & Development being supported
Ability to operate effectively within a global environment, using remote communication, and appreciating different cultural backgrounds
Ability to travel internationally on occasion
University degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
Fluency in local language, English conversational and business English (equivalent to Toefl IBT 105+, or 7.5 IELTS, CAE- Cambridge English advanced exam, TOEIC Listening 400+, Reading 400+, Speaking 150+, Writing 150+)
Financial analysis and / or accounting experience, preferably in a multi-national, multi-currency environment
Job Specific Skills
Experience working with enterprise grade accounting, reporting and ERP systems (Anaplan, SAP, Hyperion, etc.), preferably involved in architecture, implementation or redesign projects of complex financial systems.
Experience maintaining master data in an enterprise grade ERP system
Effective interpersonal skills and with ability to operate among diverse cultures
Strong analytical skills and formation of data into useful information for Finance and business customers
Working knowledge of internal controls and J-Sox.
Working knowledge of IFRS.
Strong teamwork and partner behaviors
Well-developed written and oral communication skills in English
Adept with MS Office applications
CPA, CA, CMA, CIMA, CGMA or equivalent
Experience supporting biopharma in a finance or planning role
Experience with Anaplan and SAP.
Experience improving financial planning and reporting activities
