This Graphic Designer - Production is an addition to the Marketing Communications team and is responsible for the creation of marketing collateral that supports corporate-level advertising, branding, and communication. The ideal candidate will have broad range of experience as a production artist, producing packaging, innovative in-store displays, point of purchase materials and other retail marketing materials. Day to day, you'll: - Plan, analyze, and create visual solutions to marketing and communication challenges, finding the most effective way to get messages across - Always adhering to brand guidelines - Develop overall layout and production design of a variety of retail packaging, print and web-ready projects including brochures, flyers. This position reports to the Senior Manager – Marketing Communications.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILTIES
Prepare and execute finished art and mechanicals for retail and ecommerce product packaging, retail POP displays, retail marketing materials as well as collateral materials.
Ensure guidelines and styles are within individual product line aesthetics while meeting all design and marketing communication objectives.
Design/layout digital files for tradeshows/presentation signage, in-store retail signage and merchandising displays, either for concept or through final production.
Brainstorm with Communications and Channel Management team on various packaging related projects, when necessary.
Highly organized, self-motivated, and enthusiastic person who can thrive in a deadline-driven atmosphere.
Exceptional technical skills related to producing a broad range of design deliverables. You translate design concept files into clean, optimized, accurate print-ready or web-ready files.
Partner with overseas packaging engineer to execute on packaging objectives, coordinate reviewing factory proofs and production samples accordingly.
Project prioritization and time management.
Strong communication skills with cross-functional peers and leadership.
Ability to effectively manage relationships with print and photography vendors
Responds positively to creative and professional feedback, shifting priorities as needed
Will continue to develop design skills (staying up to date with the latest typography, composition, color and modern design trends) to aid performance as Production Designer.
Desire to be part of a team who shares a quest for creative excellence.
Art creation for all projects, including sketch illustration and photo manipulation. Strong understanding of mechanical files and their use, including preparing files for print when necessary
Maintains design asset inventories
Serve as project manager including coordination of review and approvals
Select and manage work direction from outside printers, photographers, designers, illustrators, etc.; review and approve all press proofs and invoices as necessary
Manage and update the brand guidelines documents and ensure compliance both internally and with external vendors
Understand workplace hazards and take steps to proactively prevent and report hazards or injuries in the workplace. Cooperate in Safety Programs, initiatives and investigations

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Must have general understanding of package engineering and dielines for packaging concepts, as well as blister development and product packouts
Impeccable attention to detail
Must have excellent graphic design skills and a high degree of innovation shown through a professional portfolio
Must have knowledge/experience of preparing production files that incorporate spot 5C, varnish and other printing embellishments.
Must be able to split work load between design, production and some project management support, if needed.
Reviews design drafts, proofs, and preparation of final art for print.
Must have good hand skills for preparing presentation materials and packaging comps.
Must be a positive, solution based team player, proactive and flexible.
Must have proficient knowledge of the following software: Adobe InDesign CC, Adobe Photoshop CC, Adobe Illustrator CC, Font Management Software, Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
Ability to multi-task and manage several projects through completion at one time, with strict deadlines and multiple approvals
Ability to translate established marketing strategies into clear, concise, appealing visuals that are consistent with the brand image
Strong artistic aptitude for type, design, color and concept
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to lead and work in teams, thrives in a collaborative environment
Proven ability to make sound decisions within established guidelines
Minimum Qualifications and Education:
Holds degree in Graphic Design/Graphic Arts and at least 2+ years of experience with a portfolio that includes retail solutions such as displays, packaging, or in-store materials.
Must be Mac proficient and highly skilled in Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat and InDesign. Knowledge of MS Office.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required (for the majority of the working day) to sit and make coordinated movements of the fingers for using a keyboard
General office environment
May require regular ground travel to other company facilities within local metropolitan area
