**Hiring preference for this vacancy will be given to candidates who live within Columbia County. If no eligible candidates who live within Columbia County apply for this position candidates who reside in other counties may be considered.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position is responsible and accountable for performing moderately complex clerical support work including:
Sort and Distribute- Processes and scans incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, etc. and distributes appropriately. Receives & processes printouts, mail, case records, & related materials for appropriate dissemination as established by policy and procedures.
Applications- Receives applications, imports COMPASS applications, performs needed File Clearance on all applications, registers applications and distributes per established procedures/directions.
Data Entry- Interprets & completes data entry transactions analyzing results to assure all data entry transactions are correct & accepted & in compliance of information & instructions received, according to established parameters & deadlines.
Inquiry- Interprets documents, completes transactions, analyzes, records, & communicates results to ensure all clearances are completed accurately while meeting established deadlines.
Telephone Calls- Receives telephone calls, takes and distributes brief messages from telephone calls or via software application, to appropriate staff in a timely fashion. Provides phone coverage as directed. Makes telephone calls to relay information as directed.
File- Constructs & maintains files, including paper and/or electronic files, to meet identified needs. Purges case records & materials from files in accordance with established retention schedules. Collects, sorts, inserts material, searches for and/or retrieves case record and/or materials from files, including paper and/or electronic files, in accordance with local and statewide procedures.
Typing- Interprets & edits rough drafts (reviewing for correctness of spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.). Completes typing as directed, reviewing for errors & correcting same to assure accuracy in final copy.
Recording- Transfers written or verbal information in accordance with established procedures. Collects statistical data as directed.
Processes transfers of cases.
Maintains equipment & supplies assuring equipment is functional and accessible.
Processes One-Time-Issuances (OTIs) as directed.
Issues Electronic Benefit Transaction cards (EBT) as directed.
Serves as receptionist & switchboard operator.
Completion of income verification for housing authorities.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
