At Troup Custom Carpentry, we are looking for the next crew member to join our team. We are looking for someone who is excited about the construction industry and wants to learn and grow into their own unique position for us. Whatever your skillset may be, we are looking to put you in a position to learn and develop into a journey level carpenter that can work independently and take on responsibility.
Our projects include:
- Custom Decks and porches
- Interior and exterior trim work and repairs
- Doors, windows, siding
- Remodeling and repair
Standard requirements:
- Highschool diploma/GED
- Valid Driver's license and personal vehicle
- 18 years or older.
We take a lot of pride in our work. We are a small team built on word of mouth referrals from our happy clients. We want someone who is like-minded and wants to help us continue to provide an experience for our clients.
Our minimum requirements for this position are:
- Timeliness: Be on time and ready to work
- Attitude: Positive working attitude
- Hard working/Team Oriented: Construction is hard work, but it's easier when we all work together. Lifting and construction labor is required at every level.
- Willingness to learn: We are excited about our field, and we believe there are exciting career opportunities in the trades. We want to find someone who wants to explore these opportunities and grow as a tradesperson.
- Cleanliness: We believe in presenting ourselves as professionally as we can as trades people. It's a dirty job, but we like to make an impression on our clients. We aim to show them that we care about ourselves and our job, and in turn, we will take care of them and their homes.
Skill level is important to know for us as a baseline but is not the deciding factor in this specific job. If you have the attitude and are willing and able to do the hard work required of us in the construction industry, we can teach the skillset that you need to be successful. Since we are a small company, you will get opportunities to get your hands into work situations that will be teaching and challenging. The harder you work, the more you will learn and earn.
Our desired skillset is more fundamental:
- Basic reading and math. Fractions, multiplications, geometry.
- Ability to learn and read a tape measure
- Following instructions
- Must be in good physical condition to work outside in the heat, cold, lifting, climbing, etc.
- Any familiarity with Power tools. Truck and trailer operation is a plus.
- Any previous work experience in trades, agriculture, etc. is a plus.
We believe in investing in our employees as individuals and our team and we want to reflect this in what we offer to our team. We have an employment package that continues to grow and evolve, but currently includes the following:
- Accrued paid time off, 2 weeks per year
- Paid Holidays, 5 major holidays
- Sick days
- 4 day work week. We work four 9.5 hour days to equal 38 hours. As a crew member, if you work at least 38 hours, you get paid for 40.
- Overtime available when necessary, or 3 day weekend if not.
- Quarterly tool bonus: We want to help our team accumulate the tools of the trade and invest in their skillset development. This is one way we have found to do so. We invest more as you climb in skill level.
- Yearly uniform purchases: We are currently working on putting together our packages for uniforms like shirts, boots, etc..
- Room for advancement: If you are the kind of person who looks for opportunities to step up and take ownership of tasks, skills, jobs, or to fill gaps when needed, you will do well on our team. You provide your own opportunities and ultimately will get out what you put in on our team. We are an all-hands-on deck type of operation.
We're here to reshape this industry. If you are trying to approach the construction industry or looking for a career change to learn a skilled trade, we would be interested in hearing from you!
