Position Summary: To conduct medical screening and addiction screening to determine if patient meets addiction criteria. Carry out all functions required by State and Federal Law, including adherence to DHHS and SAMHSA standards, and standards of care as required by the Commission for the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Assists in the coordination of care for additional patient medical issues, as needed. Making informed clinical decisions in the best interest of the patient and the program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following and other duties as assigned.
∙Assess new patients with appropriate history and physical examination including verification of addiction.
∙Determines appropriateness of each new admission into Colorado Treatment Services, LLC.
∙Coordinates care with patient(s) primary care physician and sub-specialty consultants in regards to additional diagnoses and prescribed medications.
∙Evaluates and determines the appropriateness of all dosage changes, phase advancements and special take home medications. Approves or denies requests based on results of evaluation.
∙Provides oversight and guidance to nurse(s) as necessary. May assist phlebotomy for patients with difficult venipuncture.
∙Meets with active patients, as needed, to discuss patient medical concerns, makes referrals as appropriate.
∙Review patients with abnormal laboratory findings and provide recommendations or make referrals as appropriate.
∙Physician will meet with pregnant patient(s) as described in the Standards for
Licensing Regulation and Federal SAMHSA regulations.
Minimum Qualifications: Licensed to practice medicine in the state of Colorado, including the ordering of schedule II medications. Specialized training in addiction medicine preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license or state issued ID and provide State Medical License.
