What you’ll be doing...
Provide consistent day-to-day management of franchise relationships with municipal regulators.
Take responsibility and ownership for all facets of franchise requirements, including creating and managing database of information which provides quick access to all data points related to each local regulator with whom Verizon has a video franchise.
Build and maintain local relationships through in-person interaction and attendance at franchise-related meetings (e.g. cable advisory board meetings, renewal meetings, meetings at which Verizon or an incumbent service provider’s franchise or provision of service is an agenda item). Gather and maintain knowledge of all local and regional events in each assigned franchise through regular monitoring of the local press and other information available through media outlets.
Leverage all available opportunities to build new and strengthen existing relationships with local regulators; manage video franchise relationships to ensure that Verizon is recognized in a positive light in relation to the franchise and provision of video service. Proactively manage and take ownership of local regulator requests, questions and franchise-related inquiries.
Maintain an internal presence and be identified as the single point of contact for management and resolution of franchise related issues. Occupy assigned work office each day and interact regularly with all internal stakeholders, including but not limited to individuals and teams from finance, national and local engineering, local and national construction, external affairs, state regulatory, marketing, local and regional operations, video compliance, andlegal subject matter experts.
Work with internal stakeholdersto ensure franchise obligations are timely and fully satisfied - bond and insurance payments, submission of quarterly and/or annual reports, notices of rate and programmingchanges, PEG channel deployment and on-going care, build commitments, free service drops and other requirements specific to each individual municipality. Timely provide information and documentation of franchise compliance to Video Compliance for updating of compliance databases.
Timely provide information and documentation responsive to local and state regulator requests and inquiries.
Timely provide status updates on a weekly basis and identify items to escalate for specific direction as needed.
Coordinate among different client organizations including Finance, Tax, Engineering, Operations and others to assist in responding to requests for information and documentation from the franchise auditors.
Coordinate among different client organizations including Finance, Engineering, and Operations and interface with outside counsel to vet business terms for franchise renewals.
Adhere to Verizon policies related to travel and payment of expenses. Utilize internal systems for management and tracking of internal and external expenses and costs. Satisfy all internal Verizon requirements for ongoing training and performance management.
Demonstrate ability to communicate and work well with external and internal stakeholders, and ability to follow through and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Demonstrate decision making ability and autonomy while fully briefing and engaging subject matter experts and following internal chains of authority.
Learn and maintain high-level knowledge of City of Philadelphia and City of Pittsburgh video franchise agreements, and provide high level management of execution on franchise obligations and of relationships with City Officials and regulators, working closely with Legal and Regulatory and Operations teams subject matter experts.
What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Contract management experience.
Willingness to travel.
Even better if you have:
Business acumen, highly effective oral and written communication skills, and strong organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects with limited supervision in a dynamic environment with deadlines.
Excellent leadership skills.
Knowledge of Video Franchise Regulations and Statutes.
