This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week. Position hours are generally 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. Hours will vary based on game and event schedules.

Essential Functions

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Manager of Events and Game Operations is responsible for managing, implementing, and coordinating events for Athletics and Recreation.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage and execute events including logistics requiring coordination with internal and external partners in an effective and efficient manner and acting as the primary point of contact. Events include home athletic contests (regular and post-season) and events for external parties and campus partners. Responsibilities include staffing events; developing and maintaining procedure manuals; administering event contracts; developing and maintaining hosting protocols; coordinating and organizing meetings between department staff (i.e. coaches, marketing and promotions) and administration; and creating, maintaining, and communicating event and facilities schedules with external and internal units, coaches, and visiting teams.
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise event staff.
Assist with facilities operations, outside of regular event responsibilities.
Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with two years of related experience or equivalent education and experience to equal 6 years.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree.
Experience in collegiate athletics.
Outstanding attention to detail.
Ability to effectively multi-task and manage a variety of complex projects.
Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate and interact positively with students, faculty, staff, and the broader university community.
Team oriented with a strong commitment to organizational culture and student-athlete development.

Salary Range

The hiring range for this position is $40,502 - $51,597 annually.

Department Summary

WashU has a rich tradition of athletic achievement that began over 100 years ago and competes at the Division III level of the NCAA. WashU’s varsity sports portfolio contains 19 programs. Men’s sports include baseball, basketball, cross country, football, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, and track and field. Women’s sports consist of basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, and volleyball. Washington University’s Athletic Complex has been fortunate to host numerous national championships, renown speakers, musical groups, and political events. Additionally, Francis Field, WashU’s signature outdoor facility, has a storied history as it served as the primary facility for the first Olympic Games in the Western Hemisphere. Another one of WashU’s premier athletic facilities is the Gary M. Sumers Recreation Center, which opened its doors in October 2016. The state-of-the-art recreation center has become a highly sought-out destination with over 2,000 daily visitors and 83% of undergraduate students utilizing the space. Earlier this winter, WashU welcomed its 1,000,000th visitor to the Sumers Recreation Center in just over three years of operation.

The Manager for Events & Game Operations provides event coordination for more than 100 home athletic contests each year, including regular and NCAA postseason tournaments, as well as numerous special events, including fundraising and alumni functions, department meetings, and campus activities. The Manager for Events & Game Operations reports to and assists the Athletics Facilities Manager in managing and operating the portfolio of facilities for the Department of Athletics, including those facilities used for intercollegiate athletics, physical education, intramural and sport club programs, and recreational activities.
