Job Overview: Provide courteous and professional food and beverage service at banquet, catering and special event functions to guests in compliance with company policies and procedure to ensure efficiency and to exceed guest and meeting planner satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions:
- Maintain complete knowledge of service requirements for assigned functions:

Detailed menu selections, major ingredients, appearance, texture, quality standards, garnish and method of presentation.

Floor plans.

Particular characteristics/descriptions of wines/champagnes ordered.

Prices for specified selections on cash functions.

Groups' names and background.
-
Type of functions and expected attendance/guarantee numbers.

Scheduled hours of service.

Special requests/arrangements.

Attend pre-function meeting and review all information pertinent to set-up and service of group.

Assist with event preparation, set up, and closing, including setting up and packing away tables, table cloth, glassware, plates, silverware, menus and buffets.

Polish glasses and silverware, fold napkins, stock service stations.
-
Properly clean and fill table complements (salt and pepper, sugar, breadbaskets, etc.)
-
Be ready in assigned station at least 15 minutes prior to function start time.
-
Circulate the room with trays of appetizers and beverages.
-
Greet guests as they enter a venue and assist them with finding their seats.
-
Provide immediate attention to all guests upon seating.
-
Perform all steps of service in compliance with company standards to achieve excellent guest service and satisfaction.

Serve water, bread and butter to guests and refill glasses as needed.
-
Take orders and convey special instructions to the kitchen and bar.
-
Serve drinks and meals according to service standards and guest orders in a timely and anticipatory manner.

Continuously patrol assigned station, refill water and coffee, remove service items and condiments per standards.
-
Keep assigned station neat, clean and fully stocked during service.
-
Observe guests, respond to additional requests, and determine when the meal has been completed.
-
Remove soiled dishes and use proper in room clearing and tray break down procedure.
-
Assist in breaking down buffet and handling equipment. Return equipment back in its proper storage place.

Return all food to the kitchen. Break down and properly store designated condiments (butters, cream, dressings, etc.).

Promote positive guest relations at all times.

Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond accurately to any guest inquiry.

Monitor and handle guest complaints by following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction. Notify a manager immediately.

Assist with the final breakdown of function room and clean up. Ensure all department standards are met. Complete all checklists and closing duties in accordance with departmental standards.

Maintain cleanliness of all banquet areas.
- Maintain full knowledge of and comply with food safety and sanitation policies at all times.

Adhere to local and government compliance with health and safety regulations to ensure a clean and safe work environment for guests and employees.

Maintain knowledge of all safety and emergency procedures and is aware of accident prevention policies. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the supervisor or manager.

Remain, at all times, attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.

Ensure that the appropriate level of confidentiality and security for all guest and company information is achieved, aiding in creating a feeling of comfort and confidence for guests.

Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing proper uniform and a name tag when working.

Notify Loss Prevention immediately of found items if guest has departed.

Qualifications:
Essential:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Minimum age to serve alcoholic beverages.

1-year experience in banquet food service at a luxury venue.

Proficient with reading and interpreting, and following Banquet Event Orders. Understanding of floor plan descriptions.

Knowledge of various food service styles.

Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guest, management and co-workers to their understanding.

Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations

Availability to work holidays, weekends, evenings and periods of high demand.
