FULL TIME TRUCK DRIVER / FARM LABOR / HARVEST HELP
~Job Details~
We have a farm and a trucking company and you will be working for both. 80% of this position is driving truck and hauling hay and/or grain. The other 20% is helping as needed on the farm or with unexpected things that come up. This is not just a sit back and drive job, you will be in charge of helping with your truck, cleaning and fueling, checking tires, assessing issues and working towards solutions.
We require knowledge of working machinery, general farm operations and willing to go with the flow. This isn't a cut and dry job description. Everyday on the farm is different. Equipment breaks; things go unexpected all the time. We are looking for someone who communicates well, tells us when they think there is a problem, look ahead towards a potential issue and become a part of our family and friends. Most importantly, it must be someone who wants to be involved with the agriculture industry. We are a small family farm with MANY moving parts and we need someone who wants to work, pull longer hours in summer, and look forward to a couple months off in the winter.
Pay rates will fluctuate with duties.
At the end of June and all July we haul hay to Ellensburg. Monday - Friday, one load per day at 10-11 hours. Pay is per load. Some weekends required.
Early August we start grain harvest on our farm where you will help with harvest, haul our grain and be of general farm hand help. Weekends are required for harvest.
In the Fall we will be hauling grain. Sometimes it will be ours, sometimes it will be for others. All will be short hauls and fairly local. Nothing overnight. Usually there is no weekend hauling.
Winter hauling will be as needed for hay and grain. One requirement is that in inclement weather, the hay stack have to be tarped. You must be physically fit enough to tarp large hay stacks and throw straps to secure the load. We will not be hauling anything in snow or bad weather.
Start immediately. This is a full time position based on full time at 2000 hours per year with heavy work some months and light to no work other months.
Pay varies.
