Full Job Description
The Employee Engagement writer produces internal communications documents for WE clients, and edits content written by others to ensure top quality and adherence to detailed style, tone/voice and editorial guidelines. The Employee Engagement Writer executes on creative approaches to engaging employees – as detailed in content briefs - and stays on top of trends and innovations in internal communications as well as overall content strategy and marketing.
Writes clients’ internal employee engagement content that is pithy, attention-grabbing and distinctive – while honoring detailed stylistic and editorial guidelines
Edits content to boost its effectiveness in engaging various employee segments, optimize all aspects of editorial excellence, and ensure it aligns with style guidelines and grammar and punctuation rulings
Understands and evolves best practices for engaging audiences through each unique content type
Follows and enforces in-depth processes and tight timelines, delivering top-notch deliverables within an environment marked by quick-twitch deadlines and rapid content creation cycles
Analyzes employee programs and tailors content to best reach employees
Prepares in advance for new project kickoffs and client meetings by reading briefs and other provided background material and developing kickoff questions
Conducts the background research required to thoroughly understand content topics and related initiatives and activities, and take fresh approaches to engage audiences through content
Works alongside account partners as an extension of their team, joining meetings and immersing to learn and stay up to date on clients’ business and industry
Maintains and grows client trust by intuiting and exceeding client expectations even when clients haven’t been able to clearly articulate what success means in any given content program
Other job duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or related field is preferred, or the equivalent knowledge and/or experience
4-5 + years of experience as a writer/editor, preferably in an agency setting and/or within an applicable industry
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Outlook, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Excel)
High level of analysis and strategic recommendations based on industry knowledge
High level of initiative; take accountability for role on projects
Demonstrated creative and strategic mindset
Client and business environment: Customer service orientation is a must. Job pressure may exist from requirement of handling multiple tasks
Experience working globally or with colleagues in multiple locations
Fast-paced team environment (frequent tight deadlines, multitasking, etc.)
Strong presentation and consulting skills along with the ability to read, write and speak English
May need to work more than 40 hours per week on occasion
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
