As we settle into 2021 we have a newly created role for a Section Manager of Architecture to assist us in our growth. In this role you are responsible for the Milhouse Architectural section as well as the overall Architectural design and project management work. In essence you are responsible for the quality, schedule and productivity of the team to ensure we exceed our clients expectations and that of Milhouse Engineering and Construction's standards. The Section Manager will lead and support the proposal development and client interfaces that range from new business development to assisting in the financial recovery of such client commitments. You will participate in the creation of standards, the management of subordinate staff design reviews, and stamping of plans. Such design work can include new builds and renovation of offices, laboratories, medical centers, process facilities, schools, and similar types of facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage the quality, schedule and budget of self and subordinate projects to exceed client and Milhouse requirements;
Identify resources required to exceed client and MEC performance requirements
Design and manage design to client and regulatory requirements
Keep MEC management advised of all quality, schedule and budget variances in a timely manner;
Shop drawing review and disposition;
Prepare project documents specifications and reports;
Maintain project files;
Create and enforce project quality plans;
Data and document entry into various platforms;
Report safety, health and quality issues to management;
Prepare contract amendments, change order documentation, and claims documentation;
Develop Milhouse standards;
Develop Proposals;
Stamp plans;
Mentor Architects in the group;
Assist management as directed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
AIA membership
Membership & active participation in discipline special professional organizations
Education and Experience:
Five Year Undergraduate Degree in Architecture (B. Arch) from an ABET accredited institution
Professional registration and/or certification required
Certification in one area of expertise such as LEED, Value Engineering, or Energy Engineer
10 years of relevant experience; experience in architectural design including programming, new building design and building remodeling projects in the commercial, housing, and educational fields. Must be able to take a project from proposal to completion without assistance.
Ability to manage and grow a team
Proficient in Revit, Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards
Knowledge of CPM schedule analysis
Proficient in one discipline specific design software and design management systems
Active membership in one professional organization society
Can maintain billability
Have strategic capabilities and an architectural vision or style.
