Job Description

The Senior Accountant– Deals and Goodwill & Intangibles will assist in the accounting for acquisitions and divestiture projects and the related portfolio over $70 billion of goodwill and intangible assets at Kraft Heinz. This role is project based, with opportunities to experience the strategic lifecycle of buying, maintaining and selling of businesses and/or related assets.

Deal work includes developing and executing plans to complete purchase accounting and carve-outs, and you will assist in the execution of integration and separation plans. You will work closely with our Mergers and Acquisitions team to execute on the deal perimeters by working cross functionally with our business partners and leveraging external consultants. Goodwill and intangible projects include participating in the of the annual impairment testing other impairment analysis. Both areas include technical accounting analysis, managing teams, and problem solving. The ability the understand the flow of financial information through all systems and collaborate effectively with many internal cross-functional teams and external specialists will be critical to success for both deal and goodwill and other intangible asset projects.

This is an exciting role in an elite accounting team that will be providing unique insights to deliver on strategic vision of the organization. The ideal candidate for this role must be team focused, highly analytical and detail oriented, as well as being proactive in dealing with multiple functions within the business. Deal, Valuation and / or experience with Long Range Planning software is a bonus. This role will provide a high degree of visibility and must be a productive business partner.

Key Components of the role

Assist and execute on Deal and Goodwill and Other intangible projects;
Participate in purchase accounting, pro forma financial statements, and SEC communications, and other acquisition activities.
Participate in carve-out financial statements, held for sale accounting, transition service agreements, and other divestiture activities.
Participate in the completion of the annual goodwill and other intangible asset impairment test, quarterly trigger analysis, and transitions tests.
Work closely with the third-party valuation firm to coordinate all necessary deliverables and communicate management’s position on certain valuation assumptions;
Research technical valuation related issues and the corresponding accounting conclusions to ensure compliance with Company policy;
Partner with various teams within finance and the business to understand our systems and processes, along with the support for deals and forecasted cash flows;
Prepare accounting position whitepapers and review with the Company’s management and external auditors;
Prepare journal entries and disclosures in SEC filings;
Support internal, external and SOX related audits;
Prepare required disclosures to support SEC filings where necessary;

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred
Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations surrounding Mergers & Acquisitions and Goodwill & Other Intangible Assets
Minimum 3 years of experience in a Big 4 public accounting firm or large valuation firm with emphasis in SEC engagements or combined public accounting and industry experience performing valuation related activities and/or accounting for goodwill and intangibles
Detail-oriented with a high sense of urgency and exceptional organizational skills
Excellent analytical, teamwork, customer service and leadership skills.
Demonstrated experience performing valuation analysis or carve out and integrations
Ability to effectively lead, manage and prioritize multiple projects, while effectively operating in a fast-paced, complex global organization with shifting schedules and priorities
Excellent interpersonal and conflict management skills
Ability to work efficiently and achieve high quality results
