SOFTWARE UX DESIGNER

LOCATION: Houston, TX

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Our Software UX Designer will be responsible for providing A+ design skills and will work hand-in-hand with the Product and Dev teams to drive the evolution of our proprietary applications UX and UI. You must have a proven track record of success at all levels of engagement, including design, implementation, and solution completion of multiple web-delivered software products in a challenging startup environment. This is a dream job for Software UX Designers who will help drive the entire product UX/UI and its on-going evolution.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • UX and frontend design in partnership with the Sr. Art Director Frontend & Mobile Engineers
  • Work with our development team to ensure your UX is fully responsive and Mobile-first
  • Partner with sr. leadership, the product owner, marketing, and dev to define requirements, user stories, and provide functional, innovative designs
  • Have the ability to and vision to design for larger UI frameworks and future integrations
  • Build innovative prototypes and wireframes for all of your designs
  • Design engaging experiences across all mediums (mobile, Web, print, real-world)
  • Work with the team to optimize site experiences through A/B testing and site analysis, integrate designs with A/B Multivariate Testing Tools, and leverage user testing and usage metrics to explore and drive interaction and visual design decisions
  • Clarify and understand business and project strategy to ensure appropriate designs
  • Research and identify root causes and motivators for user-driven changes
  • Present findings, solutions, and designs, and the case for change
  • Continually evaluate emerging frameworks and technologies to identify opportunities, trends, and best practices that strengthen the design group
  • Help curate the internal design systems and frameworks in use
  • Research and understand complexities of our user needs as they relate to experience
  • Demonstrate strong ability to clearly present your vision to peers and senior management, and have the flexibility to evolve with feedback from all levels

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Mandatory: Portfolio showing expert-level delivery of same/similar projects
  • 3-5+ years experience in software UI/UX design with thorough understanding of interaction design fundamentals – Atomic and Modular Design)
  • Expert proficiency with Adobe applications (Illustrator, Photoshop, XD)
  • Expert proficiency with prototyping software and tools
  • Strong understanding and experience with interface patterns for web, mobile responsive, and native UX app design
  • Expert creating digital branding, collateral, and production processes - ability to drive branding guidelines for a digital and mobile-first brand
  • Expert experience with designing for iOS and Android
  • A clean, modern design aesthetic is critical – we want beautiful, elegant, simple design
  • Proven ability to design user focused applications, clear web and digital experiences
  • Exposure to the very latest technology, tools, and design methods
  • Experience creating highly detailed annotated wireframes, user flows, and process flows within complex mobile applications
  • Frontend development experience or understanding is a huge plus (HTML, CSS, JS)
  • Experience with the full product development lifecycle (enterprise experience is a plus)
  • Experience participating in customer interaction and usability testing
  • Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
  • Experience with a wide-range of design related products such as Sketch, Invision, etc.

  • Must be a self-starter who can manage their own projects to success
  • Ability to engage senior stakeholders and drive consensus quickly
  • Able to take direction and artistic critique
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work with staff at all levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate in a team environment
  • Expert attention to details with type A organization skills
