The Sr. Talent Development Specialist develops, leads and implements enterprise wide talent development/HR projects including talent planning, performance management, leadership development and career pathing/development tools. This role supports the vision to live AutoZone values, specifically Cares about People and Embraces Diversity, by ensuring AutoZone has a diverse, prepared workforce through creating process and programs that build AutoZone’s bench of future technical and business leaders. This position is also responsible for the development and integration of human resource programs and associated projects to achieve strategic business goals and operational objectives.
Create talent development programs that could include workshop facilitation, strategic planning sessions, experiential learning curriculum, training facilitators, and partnering with internal and external training teams for training modules and global or local training facilitation.
Serve as an internal advisor utilizing benchmarking, industry best practices, market trends and human capital research to build and execute effective performance and development programs for the business.
Collaborate with appropriate functional areas, stakeholders and HR business partners to identify talent development needs including talent skills gaps, leadership development opportunities, and workforce planning needs.
Define, implement and advise on strong metrics to define needs and track the success of individual and group performance and development.
Provide rigor and process to understanding and defining the requirements of roles including job analysis and competency mapping.
Support the HRBP team in delivering programs and in executing Action Plans for the functional areas.
Report progress, risks, and gaps in the health of our talent development, including creating quarterly Board updates.
Anticipate business needs based on frequent communication with HR Business Partners and leaders of the organization to provide talent development options and program recommendations proactively and upon request.
Manage talent development expenses to deliver the maximum benefit for all programs.
Work cross-functionally to align the work of the team with company needs for performance management, succession and high potential talent development.
Build strong relationships across the organization (including with senior leadership) to support seamless project implementations.
Direct key HR processes as assigned (including the AutoZone Engagement Survey, succession, leadership and executive development, workforce planning) with responsibility for vendor management, survey design, project execution, program analysis and reporting.
Provide visibility on program outcomes and maintain a planning record for the AutoZone Enterprise. Identify/incorporate best practices and lessons learned into program plans.
Manage external vendor partners.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, or Industrial/Organizational Psychology required; Master's degree, PhD or equivalent strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Human Resources and Management, preferably in a multi-unit retail environment
PHR, SHRM certified preferred; Certifications in facilitation, 360, MBTI, DiSC and other behavioral assessments desired.
Comprehensive, up-to-date knowledge of organizational and leadership development programs, practices and technologies including succession planning, rewards and performance management, talent management; key measurements, reporting and analysis; industry best practices; development and retention strategies for all talent levels; understanding of diversity and inclusion strategies to promote creation of diverse leadership bench. Excellent time management, communication and facilitation skills with the ability to build productive relationships. Ability to manage multiple projects independently and lead a team of diverse AutoZoners.
Strong writing and analytical abilities. Expertise in Microsoft Excel, HRIS systems. Experience serving in a consultative capacity with C-suite and executives.
