Seeking prior-military HVAC technicians and engineering leaders for a “full-time” opportunity with a large nationwide corporation that services data centers and other critical facilities.
Position Overview: The Lead Field Service Engineer is responsible for planning and leading the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of HVAC/Chiller systems and associated critical facility equipment for a large US-based corporation. You would work out of a facility near the Herndon, VA area and lead teams in servicing client sites in Northern VA as well as other sites in the Eastern US. Must have experience with a wide range of mechanical systems to include; industrial HVAC systems, CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers, HVAC controls, electrical systems, as well as an in-depth knowledge of safety codes and regulations.
Travel: 30 to 40% travel out of the area
Install and commission HVAC equipment in mission critical facilities.
Act as project lead at customer sites.
Lead and train new technicians in maintenance and repair projects at client sites on HVAC systems to include industrial chiller systems, CRAC/CRAH units, chill water systems and cooling towers.
Conduct maintenance on ventilation systems, motors, air distribution equipment, VAV ventilation systems and air handlers as well as chill water piping systems and components to include; pumps, valves, DDC/controls and water treatment/filtration systems.
Train technicians and operators at customer facilities.
Develop SOP/MOPs and training materials for HVAC systems.
10 years of relevant “hands on” experience with commercial HVAC, industrial chiller and air handling system maintenance and repair. Prior-military industrial mechanical experience and leadership is highly desired, i.e.: Navy propulsion or auxiliaries Machinistmates, or HVAC technicians from any service to include; ground equipment support mechanics, or aircraft mechanical and support system technicians.
Four years of experience working on critical facility HVAC systems.
EPA Universal Certification for refrigerant handling is required; Journeyman HVAC and/or Master HVAC licenses are highly desired.
Must have a High School diploma. Industrial HVAC education or training is desired.
Electrical system and test equipment experience is highly desired.
Experience using MS Windows and Office (Outlook, Excel and Word) and a good working knowledge of Building Management System utilization and control system functionality.
Must have experience using test equipment to evaluate and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.
The ability to lift 50-70 pounds
Must be able to work in spaces requiring overhead access, crawling, work bent over, jumping, standing for hours, and working from ladders and scaffolding.
Experience managing a travel schedule and expense reports.
Valid drivers license and good driving record.
Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
Compensation: $37/hr and up depending on level of experience, plus compensated overtime
