JOB OVERVIEW – Pine Hills Correctional Facility (PHCF) is the state correctional treatment facility for adolescent and young adult males committed to the Department of Corrections by the court. PHCF provides clinical, nursing, education, recreation, group living and other services to treat the emotional, social and educational needs of these males.
This position is part of an exceptional educational team that focuses on physical education (PE) and health education using a variety of hands on learning methods focused on the learning styles of the populations we serve. The incumbent will deliver PE/Health education through classroom facilitation using a combination of verbal, written and practical exercises to engage students. The incumbent will have access to a gymnasium, outdoor track and field, as well as a classroom.
This position is part of an education team that travels to a variety of national educational conferences including the Innovative Schools Summit, Teacher Educator for Children with Behavior Disorders, the Learning and the Brain conference, and the National Special Education Conference. Pine Hills School has been an active part of the Social Emotional Learning pilot program through the University of Alabama.
QUALIFICATIONS – This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Education with two years job-related experience preferred. Must be a State of Montana certified secondary teacher with a PE/Health endorsement. Experience in a correctional environment is highly desired.
