Overview: The Artist-In-Residence (AIR) will support the initiatives of the Older Adults Program through the development and implementation of visual arts projects and processes.
Days: To be decided
Hours: 20 hours per week
Pay (p/hour): $50.00
Minimum Commitment: 1 Year
Responsibilities:
Design and implement a variety of art and creative projects/processes in a variety of mediums tailored to the interests and needs of the program and participants.
Include program goals: Keep participants healthy, happy, connected and independent as the foundation of their work with staff and participants
Plan and facilitate standalone creative classes, workshops, and discussions
Integrate arts programming across other older adults programing (to complement educational opportunities, to encourage healthy eating, build community, etc...)
Teach participants new techniques and encourage creativity, connections across cultures, new friendships, and new ways of viewing the aging process and their environment
Create and implement class syllabus
Establish an environment in the center that celebrates participant work and fosters a sense of creativity, beauty, joy, and connection
Required Qualifications:

Bachelors or Masters Degree or significant training in visual arts.
Experience working with Older Adults and an interest in changing the narrative of aging from a deficit focus to one that celebrates and sees the positive in getting older
Ability to multi-task.
Excellent written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong interpersonal skills in email correspondence, phone communication and in-person
