JOB DESCRIPTION
Inova Health System is seeking Behavioral Health Therapists at multiple locations. As a Behavioral Health Therapist, you will demonstrate advanced clinical expertise in the provision of a range of therapeutic services, psychoeducational programming and behavioral interventions to assist the client in achieving progress towards the goals and objectives of the individualized treatment plan. You will follow all Inova Health System/Inova Kellar Center/Inova CATS Program/Inova Behavioral Health policies, procedures and practices while communicating all safety/security issues to leadership. To help achieve our mission, you will participate in maintaining a professional culture in Inova Behavioral Health. Providing documentation and performing administrative functions appropriate to clinical role is required.
Requirements
Education:
- Master's Degree, Ph.D., PsyD, EdD in mental health, social work, Counseling, Substance Use Disorders or behavioral health-related field or degree.
- Completion of a graduate courses in Mental Health Counseling, Clinical or Psychology Counseling and Substance Abuse Counseling.
Experience:
- Five years of experience in mental health/substance use disordered, psychoeducational programming including brief, targeted, evidence-based interventions (crisis intervention, trauma, integrative therapies) mental health/substance use disorders.
- Demonstrated success as a clinical supervisor.
Certification:
- BLS through the American Heart Association (within 3 months)
- Crisis Prevention Institute (within 6 months)
- Specialty certification is required for Adult Ambulatory Behavioral Health only is preferred (e.g., Certified Substance Abuse Counselor, Masters Addictions Counselor, etc.).
License:
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), PhD or PsychD Licensed Clinical Psychologist/ (LCP) or Licensed Substance Abuse Professional (LSATP).

Job Responsibilities
- Selects evaluation and treatment methods appropriate to the diagnosis, age group and patients physical/emotional status while formulating appropriate treatment plans as evidenced by chart review and team feedback.
- Demonstrates knowledge of therapeutic theory and constructs when planning/providing individual, group and/or family therapy. Develops goals and treatment plans that reflect the evaluation findings and are prioritized based on input from the patient, family and team as evidenced by chart review and team feedback.
- Develops appropriate discharge/transition planning and ensures client/family understand recommendations. Provides case management.
- Documents patients' identified problems and negotiates a treatment plan for each with the patient establishing realistic goals and objectives - all within established policy guidelines.
- Documents, concisely and legibly, within established timeframes (e.g. allows others to continue treatment, allows for interpretation by payers, supports reimbursement), as evidenced by chart review.
