The Position:

Chicago Equity Partners, LLC is a premier mid-sized investment management firm with over $7 billion in assets under management. We offer a full range of domestic equity, fixed income and alternative strategies for our clients, which include public funds, Taft-Hartley plans, corporations, foundations and endowments, and sub-advisory relationships throughout the country and around the world.

The Controller position supports the President and the Management Committee and is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with true ownership mindset and strong service mentality.

Responsible for accounting functions including establishing and maintaining the Firm’s accounting principles, practices, and procedures according to GAAP. Prepare financial reports, and present findings and recommendations to top management. Have responsibility for accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, Affiliate partner reporting, property & casualty insurances and human resources, including, but not limited to:

  • Prepare and present company forecast and annual budgets to aid business decisions
  • Put together any necessary proformas for new strategies with flow projections and break-even analysis
  • Review monthly GL account reconciliations, waterfall calculations and equity roll forward
  • Prepare monthly closings and file monthly and quarterly financials
  • Coordinate with Operations team to establish timelines and deadlines
  • Manage and train accounting staff
  • Assist employees with health care benefits and retirement planning options
  • Prepare and review Payroll
  • Coordinate annual audit, tax and other third party relationships
  • Monitor company cash balances, and maintain controls over treasury function


  • A Master’s degree in Accounting a CPA Preferred
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Controller or other management: Proven experience supporting high-level Executives
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and sometimes demanding environment
  • Strong problem solving skills and solution-focused perspective

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $100,000.00 to $150,000.00 /year
