Full Job Description
The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at Marist College is seeking a highly qualified individual to serve as a member of the program faculty. The successful candidate will join 9 full-time highly dynamic and collaborative faculty committed to creating the next generation of physical therapists by offering the highest standard of excellence in physical therapy education. This full-time 12-month position requires curriculum development and teaching and mentoring students in clinical research. Priority will be given to candidates with content experience and evidence-based practice in the areas of research, biomechanics, wound care, acute care, women’s health, and/or geriatrics. Other areas of expertise may be considered. Teaching responsibilities will depend on areas of clinical and academic proficiency. The faculty will work with the DPT faculty in a dedicated state-of-the-art DPT facility that includes faculty and support offices, conference rooms, high-tech classrooms, research facilities, on-site suite of clinical simulation labs and a traditional gross anatomy facility to support the learning experience.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in a higher education setting and effective communication and collaborative skills in a team-oriented environment. In addition, the following are requirements for the position:
Obtain a license to practice PT in New York at the time of employment
Possess an earned academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD or DSc) from an accredited university in a field related to physical therapy; will consider a DPT with board certification/specialization (i.e. GCS, WCS, etc.), and clinical experience related to the area of expertise.
Have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience in clinical or academic setting
Have a minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience
Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Teaching excellence and current scholarship/research will determine appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.
Teaching didactic and laboratory courses related to areas of expertise
Coordinating course development with other Department of Physical Therapy faculty
Engaging in ongoing scholarly work
Providing academic advising and mentoring with doctoral projects
Providing service to the Physical Therapy Program and the College
Assisting with admission, application review, and interviews for prospective students
Contributing to overall program assessment
Other duties as assigned
A Doctor of Physical Therapy with board certification/specialization (i.e. GCS, WCS, etc.), and clinical experience related to the area of expertise is highly preferred.

About the Department &
The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program is a full-time, 115-credit program designed to prepare students for the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) and for successful careers as doctors of physical therapy. The program consists of 36 months of didactic and clinical work. Students will merge hands-on skills, ethical care, clinical judgment, and critical inquiry to promote optimal functioning of current and future clients throughout their lifespan. The clinical phase offers four 8- to 10-week full-time rotations. The faculty will work with the nine existing DPT faculty in a new dedicated state-of-the-art facility that includes faculty and support offices, conference rooms, high-tech classrooms, research facilities, on-site suite of clinical simulation labs, and a gross anatomy facility.
