Duties and Responsibilities
Running diagnostic tests on diesel equipment and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions.
Inspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions/brakes, steering, and exhausts.
Preparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues.
Repairing or replacing transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated components.
Conducting service calls in the event of an emergency or breakdown.
Completing scheduled PM services.
Maintaining records of parts and serviced vehicles.
Diagnose and service electrical system failures.
Tools are provided for the position.
Skills and Qualifications
Advanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system, and the mechanics of a diesel engine.
In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms.
A good understanding of the air brake system and the parts associated.
Superior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment
Comfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Great attention to detail.
Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software.
Class B Commercial Driver’s License is preferred but the minimum requirement is a valid driver’s license.
Good communication skills.
Education and Training Requirements
High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
Certification/Training in diesel engine repair from a vocational school or a community college.
Training modules include drive trains, preventative maintenance, inspection, engine architecture, air brakes, and electronic systems.
A minimum of 2 years professional experience is preferred.
Compensation
Pay will be based on training and experience. The minimum starting rate is $25.00 per hour plus a .40 cent per hour safety bonus.
Overtime is paid after 8 hours of service daily; not after 40 hours.
