Principal – Health Data Services
The Principal is a player/coach, with an entrepreneurial bent, that will help build the HDS business by acting as a key sales resource and expanding the team over time in response to client demand. The candidate will primarily work with biopharmaceutical clients to drive the sale and adoption of our technology solutions – Vantage Apps, HealthCloud and Synoma (Patient Integration). The candidate will need to understand, and be able to articulate, technology-based solutions, including Business Intelligence (BI), Cloud, Information Management and Data Integration. This candidate will have substantial experience in a professional services firm providing technology and analytical related services to the biopharmaceutical industry. A general understanding of Symphony data (Prescription/Claims), or equivalent, is also a positive, including an understanding of this data informs the Patient Journey. Symphony is uniquely able to “integrate” various patient events, at the patient level, such as prescription and medical claims, EMR, Lab Results, etc. to enable a holistic view of the Patient Journey. This candidate will be able to effectively engage with clients to understand their needs, prepare compelling proposals, and ensure delivery excellence. He/She will work closely with Product Management, Operations, IT and the other C&S Principals to develop complimentary solutions with substantial market potential. The candidate will report directly to the Practice Lead, HDS.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Drive Sales – The Principal will drive the HDS sales pipeline in conjunction with the Practice Leader and the SHS coverage sales team, related to our technology, integration and analytics solutions. The Principal is expected to act as a player/coach and is responsible for their own set of accounts and related opportunities.
Delivery Excellence - The Principal will work closely with SHS IT and Operations, as well as our technology partners, to implement custom solutions built upon syndicated platforms – Vantage Apps and HealthCloud, collaboratively determining which custom solutions become part of the core product platform and those that are completed as a client-specific one-off engagement. The HDS Principal is the primary point of client contact and engagement and is responsible for success of their respective projects.
Achieve Financial Objectives - The Principal will be responsible for Client/Account Bookings and Revenue and for building these accounts and the practice to a substantial business over the next few years. He/She will be responsible for budgeting, forecasting and achieving sales and revenue objectives.
Offering Development – The Principal will work closely with other commercial leaders to define and implement new HDS offerings that have substantial market potential. He/She will propose new solutions and guide their implementation and commercialization.
Build High-performing Team - This resource will forecast demand and resource accordingly, ensuring the practice is staffed with knowledgeable, effective resources and achieves practice profitability targets. The Principal will mentor and develop the team, providing guidance on best practices and delivery approaches.
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or comparable discipline is required. Masters Degree or MBA highly desirable.
Strong understanding of Business Intelligence (Qlik), Cloud and data management technologies. Understanding how these technologies interoperate and ability to develop and communicate architectural solutions that encompass these various technologies.
More than 10 years of experience in a professional services firm providing technology solutions to commercial functions within biopharmaceutical firms.
Ability to demonstrate strong consultative selling skills, practice development capabilities, expertise in biopharmaceutical commercial processes, knowledge of commercial analytics and supporting business intelligence platforms, and experience with prescriber, payer and patient data derived from claims and clinical sources.
More than 5 years working in a commission environment driving sales of solutions to biopharmaceutical clients.
Proven track record of leading a team and building a business.

Candidate would ideally be located in the Eastern half of the U.S., however, location is flexible. She/he must be willing to travel to work closely with clients, partners, and strategic data vendors.
The most appropriate educational background might include an undergraduate technical degree and an MBA from respected universities. However, proven success at building a complex technology and analytics solutions business that had meaningful, positive impact is more important than any specific academic credentials.
This person will be compensated with a very attractive compensation package consisting of a competitive base salary, performance-based bonus plan and stock options.
