We create automated, price-responsive systems that enable C&I customers to predict and control electricity costs and capture savings in a rapidly-evolving utility landscape. The Stem system combines predictive analytics and advanced energy storage with a high-fidelity software user interface. By buffering spikes in energy usage, Stem also reduces the impact of the C&I customer on the utility grid and enables better grid citizenship. Through innovation in technology and financing, our goal is to optimize the relationships between energy providers and consumers.

In this role, you will be part of the team responsible for overseeing Stem’s planning, budgeting and forecasting process; including the long-term business plan, capital plan and providing meaningful financial analysis. You will report directly to the Director of Finance to support the CFO in making sound business decisions by providing insightful analyses and explaining business results. You will also assist the rest of our management team with various analyses to provide visibility into the financials, performance trends and business drivers.


Develop and maintain financial models to help the company manage capital and risk
Own the development, preparation and distribution of the quarterly and monthly forecasts
Create and maintain a variety of corporate metrics and dashboards and communicate with senior leadership
Utilizing business partnership skills, communicate to internal customers and provide strategic and operational support
Support business teams with analysis, forecasting, budgeting, investigating variances and projects
Support monthly financial review/reporting process and presentations for executives and BOD
Undertake ad hoc projects, financial reporting and analysis
Streamline processes and automate business reporting… be a voice for constant process improvement
Provide support for accounting during month, quarter, and year-end close processes

Required Skills
Financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and strategic planning experience preferred
Strong business acumen with ability to understand complex organizational structures and environments
Proven ability to be both strategic and tactical
Good interpersonal, relationship management and communication skills (both verbal and written); ability to communicate with all levels of management
Team working skills and ability to manage deliverables in rapidly changing environments
Ability to standardize reporting/analyses across diverse businesses to drive efficiencies
Advanced analytical and financial skills; proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
Experience working with

Required Experience
BS Finance, Economics, Accounting, or other analytical field
4+ years of experience in FP&A, investment banking, consulting other similar finance roles
Experience in renewables or energy a plus
