Summary

Excellent opportunity to join a high growth manufacturing company. The Controller role is the Senior Finance position and a member of the Senior Management Team!

The Controller is responsible for the accounting and finance operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

The Controller is also responsible for cash management and risk management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Management

  • Maintains and enforces a documented system according to GAAP
  • Oversee the operations of the accounting team, including A/P, A/R and BillingFinance
  • Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
  • Maintains financial security by implementing and enforcing internal controls

Transactions

  • Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable
  • Ensure that accounts receivables are collected promptly
  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Ensure timely accrual and payment of multi-state sales tax

Reporting

  • Issue timely and complete financial statements
  • Coordinate the preparation of the corporate annual report/audit
  • Calculate and issue financial and operating metrics
  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculate variances from the budget and report significant issues to management
  • Provide financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

Compliance

  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Complies with federal, state and local financial legal requirements
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge

Education and/or Experience

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration
  • 3 + years of progressively responsible experience
  • Preference will be given to candidates with MBA, CPA or CMA designations
  • Required experience at a manufacturing company
  • Required experience with Multi-State Sales Tax Filings
  • Preferred experience - SAGE 100 ERP and CRYSTAL REPORTS
