The Opportunity

v2 is seeking an Engineering & NPI Manager to work with our management team in

building a world-class engineering team in support of the company’s continued growth.

Company

  • 8 year old company with rapid growth
  • 33 employees in the office, 3 sales employees in the field / remote

Scope of Position

  • Responsibilities of both the Engineering Manager and the NPI manager
  • This is a hands-on position - no need to apply if your expecting everyone else to do the work

Engineering Manager Objectives

  • Manage all engineering department projects - major releases, minor releases, sustaining engineering
  • Manage product safety compliance (ETL)
  • Reduce field failures and RMAs via analysis, corrective actions, DFM/DFA, etc.
  • Organizational development - build and mentor the engineering team
  • Resource management - on time, on spec, and in budget

NPI Manager Objectives

  • New Product Introduction - drive the NPI process to release multiple new products each year
  • Coordinate, schedule and track cross-functional departments including sales, marketing, customer support, operations and engineering via a 4-step phase-gate NPI process
  • Roadmap - manage our product and technology roadmap, contribute industry and technical expertise

Leadership and Managerial Requirements

  • Solid engineering and project leadership with similar products and manufacturing techniques
  • Highly organized
  • Experience with and ability to drive continuous improvement and lean processes
  • Experience with document control (Arena or similar)

Desired Technical Experience

  • Design of LED luminaires, including electronics integration
  • Experience with relevant manufacturing techniques
  • Experience with the safety certification process (ETL, UL, etc.)
  • Experience with LED performance and measurement (LM-70, LM-79, LM-80, TM-21)
  • Experience with LED photometry and colorimetry
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code, UL standards (1598, 8750, 1574, etc.)

Goes without saying, but we’re saying it anyway

  • Strong verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) software

Nice to Have

  • Strong electrical engineering background
  • Degree(s) in engineering and/or engineering management
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or other MCAD software
