Description & Requirements
The Senior Accountant- Technical Accounting position will play an integral role in the Company’s financial leadership team regarding technical accounting matters related to US GAAP. The position will support significant global projects across the greater Technical Accounting team including- but not limited to- supporting the annual goodwill and intangible asset impairment assessment- accounting for acquisitions/divestitures as they arise- and determining proper accounting treatment for complex and non-routine transactions. This role provides exposure to many stakeholders of the Company and individuals within the global finance organization. This ideal candidate must be versatile and proactive with an ability to manage evolving priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Research technical accounting issues to ensure compliance with Company policy and US GAAP in various areas including- but not limited to- revenue recognition- rebates & incentives- contract accounting- leases- investments- consolidation- vendor financing- and goodwill/intangible assets
Partner with various teams within accounting- finance- and other functions to understand the nature of complex transactions and outline the resulting accounting outcome
Prepare accounting position papers summarizing our position with respect to complex transactions
Support all internal- external and SOX related audits
Support the External Reporting Team by providing assistance with SEC filings- where necessary
Assist with projects relating to M&A activity- accounting and reporting- as required
Supporting the annual goodwill and intangible asset impairment assessment process:
Collaborate with FP&A to review 5-year strategic plans (i.e. future cash flow forecasts) for global business units and Kraft Heinz brands that support the valuation
Documenting scoping considerations- valuation assumptions- and general impairment procedures
Reviewing results of valuation model outputs
Preparing related footnotes and disclosures for SEC filing
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Required- CPA preferred
Minimum of 2+ years of experience in public accounting with an emphasis in SEC engagements and experience in performing technical accounting research
Strong knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations
Experience with Hyperion Financial Management- and SAP is a plus
Excellent analytical- teamwork- client service and leadership skills
Ability to effectively lead- manage and prioritize multiple projects- while effectively operating in a fast-paced- complex global organization with shifting schedules and priorities
Detail-oriented with a high sense of urgency and exceptional organizational skills
Strong work-ethic- communication skills (written and verbal)- and drive to learn
