This position is responsible for the support of the University Honors and AU Honors Programs. The Staff Assistant serves as a point of contact for all prospective/current students in the AU Honors and University Honors Program, coordinates the Honors peer mentorship program, and assists with the data needs of the University Honors Program. The incumbent will also support the AU Honors Program Coordinator with recruitment and admission efforts, representing the office at events, and coordinating events for prospective and current students to ensure their retention in the program and at AU. This position will also provide support to the other Honors and Scholars programs as needed.
(50% of Time) Program Support
Provide administrative and logistical support to the University Honors Program. Implement all University Honors activities consistent with the program’s goals, including but not limited to scheduling co- curricular learning experiences for University Honors Program students, assist AU Honors Program Coordinator with logistics for Honors and Scholars events and other programmatic activities. The incumbent will work closely with the Director of Learning Communities Administration to provide programmatic support and launch events targeted towards University Honors Program juniors and seniors. These events include capstone information sessions as well as other academically focused and professional development related events. Leverage on-campus resources to support the program’s mission, including coordinating activities with the Office of Learning Communities, the Career Center, Office of Merit Awards, Campus Life, etc. Support the long-term program planning in coordination with the Director of Learning Communities Administration, and AU Honors Faculty Director.
(25% of Time) Administrative Support
The Staff Assistant will assist the AU Honors Program Coordinator with the maintenance and upkeep of AU Honors student e-portfolios. Other primary functions of the position include the upkeep of the Honors website and social media sites. This position will also require the upkeep of an electronic calendar of events shared with the student body. The Staff Assistant will also assist the AU Honors Program Coordinator on admissions related events and activities including but limited to AU Honors overnights, Preview Days, and other recruitment events for prospective students. As needed and where the Staff
Assistant’s schedule permits, this position will assist other Honors and Scholars programs.
(15% of Time) Communication/Marketing Outreach
The position assists with managing the Honors website, maintains Honors electronic forms, monitors enrollment in Honors courses in conjunction with the Faculty Director and sends mass email communications to both internal and external constituents regarding University and AU Honors Program matters.
Reporting directly to the Director of Learning Communities Administration, the position also involves interacting with university administration and faculty to ensure the success of Honors Program functions and activities, including but not limited to the library archive of senior capstones and update of Honors Advising Worksheets. The incumbent will also work with the AU Honors Program Coordinator on peer mentorship duties and activities.
(10% of Time) Other duties as assigned
The Staff Assistant reports directly to the Director of Learning Communities Administration
The incumbent will work closely with other staff within the Office for Honors and Scholars Programs and others in the Learning Communities team

Required Education and Experience
At least 2 years of relevant experience providing office and event support
Demonstrate effective organizational, fiscal, and administrative skills
Ability to multitask, be a resourceful problem solver as well as a creative and deliberate planner
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written
The Staff Assistant role also requires respect for and patience toward students and their concerns, as well as dedication to tracking ongoing student issues and working toward their resolution
Strong computer skills are required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Possess a solid understanding of higher education and university policies and be highly discreet
Familiarity with FileMaker Pro, Share Point, Photoshop, CommonSpot, and Colleaug
Preferred Education and Experience
Prior work experience in an academic or non-profit setting
Graduate Students preferrred
