Overview of Responsibilities: Responsible for the acquisition of new business relationships resulting in business loans and the active management of an existing portfolio of business loans with annual revenues of $2-$25MM. Builds relationships with our members and prospective members and delivers an exceptional member experience designed to retain and grow usage of our products and services. The start date for this position can be flexible (as late as early Q1 2019).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Exceeds specific net portfolio loan and deposit growth goals along with new deposit, loan, cash management, and revenue production goals.
Cross-sells products that include, but are not limited to, deposit, credit, and cash management.
Manages complex accounts and sensitive member relationships, including negotiations and credit assessments on an independent basis.
Sources, structures, and presents business lending opportunities up to $10MM to MSGCU management and the Michigan Business Connection (MBC), a Credit Union Service Organization (CUSO).
Effectively uses the MBC’s centralized credit support team for both new originations and portfolio management.
Develops a targeted center of influence (COI) list and has a detailed plan to build relationships that lead to referral business to achieve goals.
Builds collaborative relationships with key internal business partners (assigned branches, investment specialists, cash management specialists, mortgage specialists, insurance specialists, etc.).
Introduces business lending members to appropriate internal business partners to deepen the share of wallet. Participates in joint calls and prospects with internal business partners as needed.
Uses member relationship management system to manage activities on a weekly basis.
Conducts a targeted number of “in person” calls to prospects, members, COI’s, and internal partners on a weekly and monthly basis.
Practices sound risk management protocols and adheres to internal and regulatory requirements.
Maintains working knowledge and understanding of all commercial loan products detailed in MSGCU's Loan Policy.
Promotes MSGCU's interests and pursues opportunities for business expansion and enhancement. Participates in the development and coordination of the Business Lending department's related marketing efforts.
Essential Preparation and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; and
3 years in a Business Banking Relationship Manager role or related business lending experience with a proven track record of sales and outside calling success.

Understanding of core business products and services.
Local market knowledge and the ability to develop, retain, and expand relationships with COI i.e. Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) and attorneys.
Office and branch location environment with little discomfort from noise, extreme temperature, dust, or other factors.
Required to travel throughout MSGCU's service area a majority of the time. Team member to provide own transportation with eligibility for on-the-job mileage reimbursement.
Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, such as robbery. Receives detailed instructions and security procedures on an annual basis to minimize risk.
This work involves sitting most of the time with brief periods of walking or standing and may occasionally require lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds.
