Cosentini Associates (www.cosentini.com), a Tetra Tech company, invites you to consider an exciting opportunity at our New York office. We are seeking an innovative and experienced Mechanical Engineer with design experience to join our renowned design team.

About this opportunity:
As a Mechanical Engineer at Cosentini, you will have the opportunity to apply your design expertise on exciting and challenging HVAC projects. Apply design expertise to challenging HVAC projects for commercial, institutional and healthcare facilities.

Design energy efficient systems that set the standards for building system design.

Perform complex mechanical building design on a variety of projects to include, but are not limited to, buildings and facilities, including hospitals, laboratories, high rise residential and high-rise office, and other commercial and institutional projects in compliance with NYC, NYS and NJ building codes.

Incorporate design changes using AutoCAD and/or Revit software

Perform design load calculations, equipment selections and mechanical system design

Provide credit documentation for LEED, and other building rating system design and compliance

Assist in the preparation of basis-of-design descriptions, responses to client comments and other project-related documentation.

Attend meetings with architects, owners and building managers.

Review submittals and provide responses to Requests for Information

Perform COMCheck.

Prepare technical specifications and construction documents

Design tenant fit-outs for residential and commercial applications

Perform design calculations for heating load, cooling load, pump head, system static pressure, ventilation rates, system wide pipe sizing.

Select and specify equipment including pumps, heat exchangers, boilers, cooling towers, chillers, air handlers, fans for residential buildings with heat pump, VRF/VRV and PTAC systems.

Perform all of the following using Trace 700, AutoCAD, Greenheck CAPS and Revit software; MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and applying comprehensive knowledge and interpretation of code compliance requirements and industry standards including NYC, NYS and NJ building codes consistent with ASHRAE standards and NYC energy conservation code requirements.

Work both independently with minimum supervision and in a highly collaborative team environment.

What kind of candidate are we looking for?

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3 years of experience in job offered or 3 years of experience in the Related Occupation. Must have passed FE Mechanical Exam.
