YOUTH RESIDENTIAL SHELTER MANAGER (YRM)
SUMMARY:
Our rapidly growing, multi-state nonprofit is seeking a dedicated, compassionate manager to lead a staff of paraprofessionals working in our brand new residential shelter facility for youth. This incredibly important role is perfect for a social worker or other human services professional seeking a supervisory role.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Youth Residential Shelter Manager (YRM) will manage the day-to-day operations of YR House, a residential/shelter living facility for youth in Klamath Falls, along with overseeing peer support services to residents, many of whom experience challenges related to mental health, adversity, and other system involvement. The YRM will be expected to manage the Youth Rising House and be able to demonstrate competency in recovery and ongoing coping skills to build connections with youth and assist in needs-identification, solution brainstorming, and self-advocacy.
DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS:
· Manage daily operations of the program including staff assignments, inventory, and schedules(staff and youth).
· Coordinate training for professional development.
· Oversee on-site program goals, documentation, and reporting in Excel, OneDrive, Google Platforms.
· Collaborate with a direct supervisor to ensure that the program is compliant with state and federal requirements.
· Assist youth in identifying and attending other support services, resources, or opportunities.
· Provide DSP to to assist youth in developing natural supports.
· Assist DSP with youth in creating long-term life goals known as life assignments.
· Train and provide guidance for DSP to assist youth in developing problem-solving skills.
· Assist youth in identifying and combating negative behaviors.
· Providing and advocating for effective recovery-based services.
· Leading DSP in assisting youth in obtaining services that suit their recovery needs.
· Meeting with mental health professionals to improve relations between youth and staff.
· Modeling effective communication skills, and problem-solving to resolve a conflict between youth and staff.
· Utilize evidence-based practices including Positive Youth Development, CPS, Wraparound and the 40 Developmental Assets.
· Assist management in cultivating and navigating local services for training, professional development, youth services, and facility needs.
· Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities.
· Navigate tracking systems for youth development.
· Prepare communications, such as memos, emails, invoices, reports, and other correspondence.
· Nurture new and old relationships with collaborative partners.
· Attend weekly supervision meetings and submit reports.
· Report, as required by law and policy, all suspected incidents of child abuse/neglect.
· Other duties assigned by Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
● Associate degree in a human services discipline with 3+ years’ experience in human services (preferably with youth), or a bachelor’s degree with at least one year of experience in human services (preferably with youth).
● Relevant degree fields include social work, drug and alcohol education or counseling, psychology, criminal justice, guidance counseling, or marriage and family therapy. Other degrees may be considered.
● Experience working with youth, individuals or families in need of crisis intervention is preferred
● MUST be able to use e-mail, compose documents, save and locate documents electronically, and learn to use electronic records systems.
● Willingness to update job skills and knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and attending trainings.
● Valid Driver's License & Reliable vehicle
● Must undergo background check with satisfactory results
● CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred or willing to obtain)
● Food Handlers Card (preferred or willing to obtain)
POSITION TYPE & SCHEDULE:
FTE (40+ hours/week) with hours generally Monday – Friday; 9:00 – 5:00, but subject to change/on programmatic and operational needs including irregular hours, evenings, and/or weekends.
FLSA-exempt (salaried)
