Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer for the United States business and working closely with key leaders for the US business, the position holder takes ownership of human resources functional leadership for business units in the United States gategroup organization.
In direct support of operations, drives adherence to HR standard processes and procedures thereby improving productivity and operating financial performance in the operations of seven business units (BUs) in the US with a total of 31 in-flight Gate Gourmet airline catering kitchens/operating units (OUs) and over 8,000 employees through focused improvements related to front line workforce planning, staffing, scheduling and overtime. In coordination with senior management, business unit leads, business unit HR leads, regional office HR subject matter experts and other key stakeholders, as well as internal and external best practice guidelines, develops HR strategies, manages programs, calendar of events, and drives strategies throughout the organization by applying a pragmatic results-oriented approach. In addition, this role oversees all regional employee and labor relation programs and ensures adherence to all collective bargaining agreements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
In coordination with stakeholders including senior management, business leadership and regional HR leaders defines strategies for HR planning, delivery and review cycles including the HR strategic plan and the goals, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and standard operating procedures supporting the achievement of the plan.
Key areas of highest impact include improvement of frontline labor: planning, staffing, scheduling, workforce composition, overtime optimization, and improving staff retention.
Leads subject matter experts in the regional office to improve processes and gain traction in operations with respect to specialty areas including: labor relations and employment practice (employee relations) programs.
Works with subject matter experts in regional office to improve progress and traction in operations with respect to specialty areas including but not limited to: succession planning, training, recruiting programs, compliance, labor relations, compensation analysis and adjustments.
Facilitates consistent HR practice and good governance to ensure the Company organization is well positioned to operate as an effective organization, given the challenges of the various markets.
Builds consensus among senior management, regional and functional leadership, HR and other key stakeholders to define and drive the standardized strategy throughout the organization.
Provides specialist advice and supports HR colleagues in the business and operating units.
Establishes and Improves Standard Operating Procedures
Drives a “standards” culture (i.e. standardized policies, processes, practices, review and planning cycles, continuous improvement) throughout the organization.
Functions as a key member of US HR leadership team and leads networking and best practice transfer. Establishes, improves and shares best practices and success stories to ensure what works well is understood and replicable across the organization in a standardized manner in line with the company strategy.
Responsible for defining and thoroughly documenting plans, procedures, and practices including communications, administrative parameters and managing assignments.
Ensures standards and policies for HR operations are developed and implemented.
Has lead responsibility for coordinating and producing standardized framework and production of HR metrics, comprehensive reports and improvement action plans.
Serves as top “change management” leader and project manager for large scale employee changes
In partnership with project teams, leads internal communications for key corporate initiatives such as onboarding and duties related to acquisitions integration, unit closures, etc.
Serves as a key contributing member of Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) global steering committee and work streams in an external and internal communications capacity; leads the Company's CSR efforts.
Provides strategic planning and support for the Company's PeopleFirst and gatelife programs to influence culture change and promote an inclusive work environment.
Develops the communications plan for the yearly employee engagement survey and serves as a team member in the action planning process in developing a communications plan to address findings.
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred
Minimum 10 years of experience in senior level HR roles, preferably in an operations based capacity.
At least 5 years at a management level in a fast-paced, deadline driven organization.
Prior HR generalist experience and well-rounded HR functional knowledge strongly preferred
Experience managing complex conflict resolution of employee relations cases at a senior management level.

Language / Communication Skills:
Fluent in English; fluency in other languages considered an asset
Ability to communicate with impact (in writing and orally)
