Are you a strong leader with an expertise in Spaceflight Instrumentation and Development?

If so, we’re looking for someone like you to join our team at APL.

We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead a team of Instrument Engineers and Scientists in the design and development of space instrumentation in support of the Space Exploration Sector and APL.

As the Group Supervisor of the Space Instrumentation Group, you will…

Lead a of team of 50 engineers and scientists across an array of disciplines. Responsibilities include ensuring adequate funding for staff and adequate staffing for in-flight mission projects and studies in development, management of overhead budget, logistics, liaison with other APL Space Exploration Sector science and engineering groups, strategic planning, liaison with sponsors and external organizations with respect to ongoing flight instrumentation and future projects, hiring of new employees, career development, maintenance of facilities/laboratories and staff mentoring.
Provide leadership and support of Space Exploration Sector proposal development efforts in response to Announcement of Opportunities and other new business opportunities.
Participate in Space Exploration Sector management and leadership through engagement in areas of new business development, teaming with other Branches in the Space Sector and interfacing with external organizations.

You meet our minimum qualifications if you have…

A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or science discipline.
15 years of experience in the development of space flight instrumentation.
Strong oral communication skills.
Proven track record of managing technical staff members.
Hold an active Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You will go above and beyond our minimum qualifications if you have…

A Master’s or PhD degree in an engineering or science discipline.
Have ability to obtain a Top Secret TS/SCI clearance.
