Full Job Description
H2M architects + engineers, a multidisciplined consulting firm seeks a dynamic Corporate Business Development Manager in the education (Higher Ed) and private sector markets in the NY Metro Region. The BD Manager will be responsible for assisting Market Sector Leaders, Deputy Market Sector Leaders and Office Managers in achieving regional business goals through business development activities. The successful Business Developer will build relationships and support the strategic direction of H2M to grow and profit in the region.
Corporate Business Development Manager will possess the ability to collaborate at all levels of the firm, including Executive Management, Discipline Leads, Marketing and Public Relations. Business Development activities will include but are not limited to assisting Market Directors in spearheading a strategic approach to targeted markets, with definitive action plans, including identification of target clients, new opportunities, potential partners and participation in relevant professional and industry organizations. The ability to drive the business development process and participation in the education and private sector markets is key to this position.
Engage Market Sector Leaders, Deputies and Office Managers in the development of regional and market sector target client strategies
Develop a client target list and implement a plan to pursue; increasing the firms client base; enhancing revenue growth/profitability; and expanding the overall market
Develop education and private sector market penetration strategies in collaboration with Market Sector Leaders, Deputies, Office Managers and other H2M team members
Provide regular contact with prospective new and existing clients with potential opportunities
Leverage current relationships; connect the dots within current client firms in other regions
Develop strategic teaming relationships and opportunities with other firms in education/private sector markets
Establish H2M’s presence and recognition in targeted markets and geography by:
Defining relevant organization participation, joining committees and boards. Encourage colleague participation
Defining sponsorships opportunities
Defining expert article placement hot topics, industry/market trends, H2M success story, etc.
Defining public relations opportunities
Defining social media placement
Defining potential speaking engagements/panel discussions
Research, gather, communicate and advise on local market trends
Collaborate with marketing team on the development of regional marketing and market specific materials
Provide executive presentations to senior management team on Business Development efforts.
Maintain high level of knowledge on a broad range of architectural, engineering and environmental services offered within the firm.
Maintain contacts and business development activities in the firm’s CRM (Deltek)
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction, Science or Business Management
Min. 10 year’s business development experience in the architectural, engineering and construction industry within the education and private sector markets
Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial spirit, committed to successful outcomes
Demonstrated ability to develop strong rapport with clients (both internal and external) while maintaining exceptional working relationships
Possess understanding of the NY Metro Region markets
Possess NY Metro Region professional network and contacts
Strong written, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Must be flexible in an ever-changing business environment
